My wife is a Gustie and after visiting that school many times and seeing their solid facilities and overall support for athletics, I wonder why they do not have a team in the UMLL? Did they ever have a team? Is there any contact from them about being competitive?

I believe they won the UMLL one year. I have talked with guys down there and they are struggling to get a team going with the initial costs. They looked at joining the the GLLL, but again initial costs were a problem.

It is such a great athletic school and athletic environment that I am really amazed they don't have a team. I know the enrollment is small there but it's big enough to support a spring sport like lacrosse.
I believe they finished in the top 25 for the Director's Cup standings this year, which is amazing considering that most people think of St. John's as an athletic school and we were over 100 I think.

G.A won the first UMLL championship.
They had a coach who was an AA from Adelphi (hazy recollection - know he was very good and from LI and older than me)
The team slowly came apart after the coach attemped to get them to be a bit more committed. He was "before his time"

I think it was 98 or 99 actually. I seem to remember playing them for 2 years, and then they started forfietting in 99 maybe and decided to drop out.

As our neighbor college some of their current on campus laxers have contacted me in the recent past inquiring about playing for us. It doesn't work out with the rules, but credits are interechangeable between our two schools...to a certain extent. One laxer on GA campus, Ian Wolf (think that's right), apparently is quite the stud and itching to play. I've offered to help them start a team again, but nobody over there was THAT interested. Funny thing, since we're only like 12 miles apart a lot of our alum are friends with gustie lax alum...one of them even plays in our annual alumni game.

I think you are right BB. We played them in the plymouth dome for sure in 1999 but they may have officially folded it up in 2000.
