APPLETON — If you saw this one coming, you've got a promising future in the stock market.

The Appleton Lacrosse Club was formed just three years ago, many of its players having never picked up a stick, starting from ground zero. Today, they are heroes.

"You know, I didn't even know there was a state championship when we started," said John Hallett, a senior from Appleton East High School.

He does now.

The Appleton La-crosse Club scored an amazing victory for itself and its hopes for the future of the sport in Appleton as it captured the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation high school state championship Sunday with a 9-5 victory over Hartland Arrowhead before an estimated crowd of 2,000 at the Banta Bowl.
