People will say whatever they want about the game "not counting", etc. etc. but I still want to say congratulations to the Bulldogs on a great victory. It feels good to be at nationals and be able to come home with a few wins.

Nice job, boys.

People can say what they want about these games not mattering.....but they do. Florida state threw everything they had at us today... Example: All3 starting attack, defense played the entire game. The onyl reason the other goalie was playing was because of the score at half. Or that what we were told. This is a huge win for UMD and for the UMLL.

The game does matter because even though we lost to Colorado yesterday, we can still start the season next year with a higher ranking with the win today against FSU and if we win our last game this week. So while it doesn't matter for this tournament, it could end up helping us in next year's tourney.

Did Duluth kill a 3 man down penalty?

Everyone knows these consolation games matter. I won't make comment about the ones who don't, but that they are in the minority.

Good 2nd game Duluth. I was dissappointed to see you draw Colorado in the 1st round. Them and CSU are tied for #1 in my book. (my bracket has had them 2 in the championship game since day 1)

Good luck with your next game!

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe this makes the UMLL 2-0 vs. the Seminoles, with Minnesota's win last year and Duluth's this year. Not sure if other teams have played them in the past though.

2-1 counting Duluth's loss the year before the U played them (at nationals the last year they were in the lou), 21-16 I think the final was. That was a fun game, some attackman for FSU got 14 points that game, a tournament record high. Thanks Daehn!

Did FSU not try in the first round either when they got bounced by another lower seed # 11 Cal Poly? And didn't UMD beat Cal Poly earlier in the season?

I would suggest FSU "try" in one of the games they play down in Dallas, or the USLIA should invite a team that will.

Nice victory UMD. Nice "try" FSU, wide right again. hehe

just thought I would point out, that NO ONE on this board has said that FSU didn't try, realistic observer, I think they were sending out pre-warning shots in case they did...However, I am sure they will boot their coach again after another loss to a MN school!

johnny, some people on, i think the championship chat board, were hinting at the fact that these games dont matter and FSU didnt try. I think thats where thats coming from.

Yes, they did, but obviously they did not finish their season the way Poly did otherwise they would have been ranked ahead of them going into the final poll. Congrats to UMD, but I think it is rather foolhardy to assume that FSU came out with the same mindset that they did in the first round against Poly.

I wish people would stop putting down the win. You should have stopped it after "Congrats to UMD."
*I had a big long thing written about all this talk how teams don't care about these games so why try, but that is dumb and has been discussed forever. Duluth > FSU. The end.

big win

Big win to UMD against FSU. Having played them last year, I know that their guys were definitely out to get a W against Duluth. It is absurd that their coach would allow them to "tank it" or not try. I guarantee you that had that been the case, he would have put in subs to take their place. Only people who have no connections to FSU would make that assumption.

Good luck to them in the next game.

PS - Did Daehn really give up 14 points to one of FSU's attackmen? Wouldn't be the first time.

Congrats to UMD. (edit): Good luck to them tomorrow as well!

Good luck to the St. Thomas and St. Johns tomorrow.

He started playin D on him, but the kid got alot of his points on man up or fast breaks, and when we tried to play a zone. I just like to give Daehn a hard time because he was 'most' responsible of the 3 D-men for this guy.
