WCLL Division B Poll

Postby Andy Sharp on Wed Feb 16, 2005 5:14 am

For those who need to take WCLL teams into account in their national voting and since there was never a pre-season coaches poll posted, that I could find, I'd like to hear how everyone would rank the top 3 B teams.

I used last years LaxPower rankings to select the top three, sorry if your perfect match is not present.

Any explanation for why you rank them the way you do would be appreciated.

If it's any different, who is your pick for the WCLL-B team going to Blaine, MN?

I am of the belief that until somebody proves otherwise (w-l from last year) these teams should remain ranked as they were at the end of last season. USD is the defending champ, and should be treated as such. Claremont has been a power in recent years, and Pepperdine's improvement has catipulted them into the hunt in '05. Good luck to all three teams in their quest for Minnesota.

I'm gonna have to agree with LAX SAMURAI on this one, even though the Cleveland Browns don't deserve an avatar on this website  ... USD won the league last year and as such should be ranked #1. Already this season, Claremont suffered a loss at Chapman, and Pepperdine played LMU to a very close game. I think that the WCLL representative to Blaine will be one of these 3 teams as they seem to be fairly equal (in terms of wins and losses over the past 2 or 3 seasons). After that, I believe the quality of the teams drop off a little bit. I wish the Claremont-Pepperdine game had not gotten post-poned because it could have been an early determinant for the rest of the season. We'll see how it plays out though; should be a tight hunt for that innagural trip to Minnesota.

WCLL preseason poll.http://www.wcll.com/2005/polls.cfmLooks like Claremont is #1 and USD is #2. Both of those teams are ranked ahead of some of the A div teams.
