Neither Duluth goalie in first or second team, a shame.

And I think I would have swapped the Middie from UWSP up to first team, and the one from U of M to second team.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Yea I know, just a shame I guess, as they are both some of the better goalie's I have seen play. They will be sure to represent down in Texas!

hey larson how do you figure?? Both 1st team and 2nd team goalies split time for their repsective teams.... im confused by your statment???

Duluth goalies have been getting hosed for years

If I remember correctly, both goalies are sophomores? They will both have their day in the sun later in their career.

It is a shame that moorhead couldnt get their act together and get their nominations in. Tyler Bosh (Midfield) has been an important member of this team for 4 years. He led our offense in all areas and was a leader both on and off the field this year. I would like to think had the nominations gotten in he would have made the list!

I think the bigger reason for niether of the Duluth goalies making 1st or 2nd team is the part of Lars' statement about UMD D letting in poor quality shots. Their goalie's weren't exactly given the opportunity to show off since their D was so good nobody could get off great shots.

Also, I think word gets around when goalie's have one or two really big games. Tommy Johnson played amazing when ISU hosted UMN. He usually always made his presence known when betweeen the posts.

I will start this post by saying that I did not see any UMLL games this year so I can not comment specifically on any UMLL goalie. Meaning I am not degrading anyone's performance this year.

With that being said, If a goalie is good, they should be good regardless of the defense. A good goalie is good goalie no matter how many shots they see. Of course goalies that see 20-30 shots a game have more opportunity to make saves, but they also have more opportunities to let in goals. People talk about the four or five great saves a goalie made but will often use the defense as a scapegoat for the 10 plus goals they let in.

I think the lack of quality shots argument is shaky. Other considerations such as did the goalie come through in big games should be considered. Meaning did the goalie dominate games enough to win where they would otherwise lose. From the sounds of it the UMD goalies never had to come through in big UMLL games this year b.c of the lop-sided scores.

As far as two teams being left out of the mix for not getting their ballots in on time. It's too bad that the team officials for the respective clubs would choose to eliminate recognition of their players due to a lack of organization regarding deadlines. Maybe those teams should include a compentency using a datebook as part of the criteria for their future team leaders.

How does Iowa States goalie get all conference??? Iowa State didn't see any kind of opponent that would be considered a quality team this year( excluding the bulldogs) which was not a good showing by any means. Lets be serious ISU saw dirty shooters for 1 game. I demand a recount!, feel good votes should be reserved for the WNBA

there must be some sort of mistake with the honorable mention. gabe vangompel didn't play this year, and if he did, he would have been a middie.

also, i'm shocked by not seeing nate komorowski's name on the list

First off, congratulations to everyone who made First, Second or HM. Secondly, open your eyes and realize there is a lot of talent in the UMLL as a whole, not only up in Duluth. And yes, Mr Wizard, I do mean to say that even the B division has some remarkable talent.

I think that stats should be irrelevant while choosing all conference teams, its about the players who make the difference for their team while they are on the field. I know this has been brought up before, but I feel like both of our goalies deserve more than honorable mention, both this year and last year. If you wanna know how they play in big games then you can look at the Utah and Cal Poly games we played, the goal tending and defense were the reason that we won those game, I know that those aren't UMLL games but those are the opportunities they had to show how they can play and they exceeded the expectations. I just think that credit should be given where credit is due.

So, if my offense is really good and scores tons of goals in every game, I can't be an all-conference goalie because the games are never close enough for my goaltending to be the difference? That doesn't make any sense.

(Like you, I'm not talking about any particular team or player; I'm just saying that your criteria are flawed.)

I am sure that if Moorhead turned in the balloting that Tyler Bosh would be on the list. It is too bad he does not get any recognition for what he has done.
