Who does everyone think will get votes, win, deserve recognition, etc?

Harding's Goalie really ought to get recognition. He played solid all year.

Attack:
Szostak-Harding
Mullaney-Creighton
Fete-Creighton

Midfield:
Murphy-Augustana
Allen-Harding
Steitz-SLU

Defense:
We all know Metcalfe from Creighton will be on this list. Other than that, I'm really not sure who to name.

Goalie:
Westra-Dordt
Doris-Harding
Wennmacher-Augustana

Please note I made this list by only looking at stats. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone's accomplishments by leaving them off my list, I just named some people that looked like they had a good year. I also didn't name any of my own guys (yes, some of them played pretty well despite our record) so as to not be a homer.

There are a lot of great goalies playing in the GRLC-B this year, but I want to do some self-promotion. Our sophomore goalie Ben Zaegel has played big for us all year. He was HM last year for the GRLC-A.

I would also like to say that Rolla has two great goalies including Freshman Steve Grelle.

Even if we could select five goalies, I would have still had trouble limiting my list to five keepers from around the conference.

If I could votewith no bias I would vote ...

Attack
Szostack-Harding
Mullaney-Creighton (obvious choice)
Watson-Arkansas (brought together a solid team this year)

Midfield
Fete-Creighton (points speak for themselves)
Steitz-SLU (always a threat with the ball)
Allen-Harding

Defense
Metcalfe-Creighton (everybody knows it)
One of the Dordt poles, can't remember which one but had real good stick skills and almost automatic on clears.

Goalie
Westra-Dordt (soild all year, stepped up)
Hammes-RHIT (kept RHIT competitive)

Player of the Year
Szostack-Harding

Coach of the Year
Anybody but Gilner (haha) just messing around

Szostak and Hoogendoorn (Dordt) on attack for sure.

JP Allen at mid

Carlson (SLU) was pretty impressive on D

Edge (barely) to Zaegel over Doris for Goalie

I don't think Westra should garner consideration, because he left the team and wasn't at the crossover. I don't know the circumstances for his departure, but his presence may have given Dordt a little more breathing room in both their games this past weekend (Whoever filled in for Westra actually did a pretty good job.)

Szostak for POY (no question)

In the 5+ games I've coached against Creighton, I do not recall seeing Fete line-up at midfield. He's an attackman...I don't care what the roster says.

Westra does not play on Sundays due to religious reasons. I spoke to some of the Dordt players following their game last Sunday. The Dordt guys told me that he will be traveling to Lisle for this weekend's games.

As for goalies in our league, Zaegel from SLU and Hammes from RHIT are really good. As a former goalie in college, I respect their respective styles.

On attack, Huang from Wheaton gets over looked but he is very strong.

Thank you to those that acknowledged Augustana players.

I guess the All-Conference teams will be announce this weekend in Lisle?

that's okay. i received a conduct foul this season and therefore, am not eligible.

on a serious note, i think that your coach has done a great job with harding this year and ethan has really helped turn the augustana team around.

chris fete has always been an attackman. last year he was entered into the uslmdia website as a middie and we were unable to get it changed this year.

we have made him take a few faceoffs this year due to the low number of healthy midfielders.

I wanted to throw out some random players / positions that I was impressed with...

LSM
Aaron Toly - #19 - Wheaton (One of the best we saw all year)
Dan Snyder - #12 - UMR (Also a solid LSM)

FOGO
Shawn McCue - #5 - Augustana (Pretty disgusting on faceoffs)

Defense
Fred Harder - #9 - Rolla (Very quick, one-man clear, great stick)

I just wanted to throw these players names out there, since they had not been put out there yet and I was extremely impressed with all four.

harder for umr goes by eric - He's the most impressive defenseman i've been around in years as he never played before college (converted football lineman)

Also, Steve Grelle is a freshman out of desmet and he's better from inside 5 yards than any goalie i've ever seen. He kept us in a lot of games.

For coach of the year, I'd probably go augustana. We played them last year and based on that, I was expecting a fairly easy game this year. They completely shut us down. Incredible turn-around.

Based on who I've actually seen play this year, here's who i think deserves something:

Attack
Szostack-Harding
Mullaney-Creighton
Fete - doesn't hurt that I played with him for 4 years
Watson-Arkansas (found weaknesses in our zone and picked it apart)

Middie
I don't pay attention to opposing middies all that much in games.
For UMR, i think Tom Graff has to place somewhere. He dominated face offs this year, easily winning 90%. Plus his points are pretty near the top.

Defense
I think SLU and Augustana had the best units we played against. Augustana didn't have the greates one on one, but the slides were excellent. Mike Van Tiem for SLU was good. Rhit had a freshman who was good as well.

FOGO
augustana guy - the only one who gave graff troubles this year

Actually Matt, I have to disagree with you. I saw Zaegel play twice this year and twice get beaten regularly. Granted it was against two nationally ranked programs but I was not impressed with him. Hearing that he is a sophmore gives him a little more respect in my eyes but still. If he could stay in cage and not run out and hit someone he would do a lot better.

For coach of the year, from an outside perspective (although I have lots of contacts in the GRLC)

Bates - Harding... besides being able to coach lacrosse he can also cook.
Ritz - Augustana... is an absolutely incredible coach and has turned that program around.
Gilner - Creighton... besides his dashingly good looks he has time to coach a little bit.

This weekend was the first time he played LSM ths year he had played straight D all year and had been equally impressive to me (he took my starting spot )
