It's hard to believe, but the Georgia High School regular season ends this Saturday. The first round of the playoffs start next Wednesday evening with 8 first round games (16 teams total).
The four quarterfinals take place Sat, April 29th with the 2 Semifinals on Wed, May 3rd. Championship will be held on Saturday, May 6th (site TBD).
The playoff picture is still unclear, but most of the first round matchups appear to be set....
LEFT SIDE
Woodward at St. Pius/Marist Winner
Walton at Lassiter
Darlington at Milton
Holy Innocents at Centennial/Wesleyan Winner
RIGHT SIDE
Centennial/Wesleyan loser at Westminster
Kell/Sprayberry winner at Lovett
Roswell at Harrison
St. Pius/Marist loser at Pace
Since it was predetermined which areas would play each other, Westminster most likely will get the unlucky draw of Lovett in the quarterfinals (assuming no upsets and the higher seeds win out).
If the higher rated teams advance, the right side of the bracket will see Lassiter play Milton in one semifinal while Lovett will probably place Pace in the the other semifinal. Could be a rematch of the last two state championships (Lovett vs. Lassiter) in the finals.

In the Area 4 playoff picture, I have a question ....
All of the brackets I've seen have listed Centennial or Wesleyan as the #1 and #2 seed out of that Area.
BUT ....
If Centennial loses to Wesleyan, then Centennial will be tied for 2nd place with Alpharetta with identical 2-2 records in Area 4 competition.
Head to head: Alpharetta beat Centennial during the regular season 10-9 .... so shouldn't they get the #2 seed out of Area 4 because of that win over Centennial ?
Of course, if Centennial wins, then Alpharetta is a non-issue ...

Good point Cecil. I don't know how it exactly works. I would assume that Alpharetta goes to the playoffs due to the head to head victory (if Centennial loses tonight). But I don't know the tiebreakers system for GHSA play.
Hope you can make it this weekend at Northview and throughout the GHSA playoffs.

To further complicate matters, if Centennial loses to Wesleyan and Northview beats Hooch, there will be a 3-way tie between Alpharetta, Northview & Centennial all w/ 2-2 records in area.

Interesting. I didn't realize that was even a possibility.

Marist, Pace and Wesleyan? Sounds like an NCAA Laxapulluza in Atlanta! They should have a sister school program.

Incredibly sloppy game although it only had something like 3 penalties. Woodward missed 3 open cage goals. When I say open cage I mean the goalie was five yards away. It seemed like no one wanted to score.
Overall the game wasn't that great. St. Pius will most likely lose in the next round.
