Goal Tenders

So this year I have seen alot of impressive saves from diving stick saves, to kick saves. As well as the top three goalies in the league are Freshman so it seems like performances like that are hear to stay for some years. So I was wondering stats aside but from personal accounts or OPINIONS who is the top goalie in the league or what has been an incredible performance you have seen? As well as who will be the all conference Goalie of the league?

Goalies

Yea the goaltenders are definitely on their way up. I know it is a humbling experience to be held scoreless in a practice. The best save made on me was by the Montana St. goalie, Brian Hoy. I was in real right and threw a low fake and went stick side high, made it past his stick but he threw up his elbow and stonewalled me. But, I also love my goalie. The thing I respect most is his work ethic. He is the winner of 80% of our sprints in practice, not because he is the fastest but because he always gives 100%.

Are you guys just talking B division goal tenders or both divisions?

In all honesty I would have to say that Glenn Makechnie from BYU has got to be one of the hottest keepers playing right now. He only gave 3 goals to Oregon and I believe he didn't give up any against Colorado College. He'll have a big test this week against CSU and CU but I know the Cougars sure are glad to have him in there.

All Conference goalie: Pete Jokisch from CSU. That kid is rediculus!! Not to mention he probably can out bench 99% of the USLIA, and he only gives up 6 goals a game playing against the cream of the crop day in and day out.

I know Glenn is solid but... Chris Powers is a great goalie (that can be streaky), it sucked to see him go down.

I haven't seen many Division B goalies but word on the street (okay from what I have heard from one person) is that Western's goalie is pretty sick and he is a freshman... I think.

Lastly, Jeremy Johnson from Utah is one more amazing goalie in this league. I don't know if they keep stats for this but I would bet he leads the league in penalty minutes for goalies (I think he has 2 min- 1 for a cross check and 1 for arguing with the ref)... he claims after he was hit late he was trying to get back in the cage when some one unfortunatley got in his way. All kidding aside, Jeremy has single handidly kept the Utes in some games and even one some for them.

just my humble opinion.

My previous post was not meant as a slight to Chucky but the reality is that he is out with a knee and we won't see him until next fall. Glenn has stepped in and played very well and is improving each game. It's nice to have a Senior with experience to come in and take over when we lost Chucky to injury. Nice also to have Kikumoto there as backup to Glenn. I bet Coach Lamb is glad to be so deep in goal.

I think the best goalie in Div B has to be Mines' Mike Stone. He has a 75% save precentage and has only had 37 shots slip by him in 8 games thats a little over 4 a game. I think that is pretty impresive. I am also a big fan of Westerns Daniel Guzman. I think with a better defense that dosnt always leave him taking one on one's he would be the top goalie in Div B he does although have a 71% save percentage and has gotten his goals scored on him down to 9 a game. I look for these two FRESHMAN to go 1.2 in All Confernce Voting and HM to Brian Hoy from Montana State.

Here we go again... Is this the time when players start making predictions/shout outs/throwing out personal stats, and focusing more on all-conference honors than lacrosse. Div. B has a bunch of really good teams (with a bunch of good goalies) that are all battling for positioning in conference championships and hopefully making a strong bid for nationals. I just don't understand why people get worried about personal accomplishments when your team could be doing something really special. Just think if a team like a western came up 2nd in the conference championships and got a bid to nationals. That’s what I would be talking about and focusing on.

Trost, are you seriously taking the time to call people out. All these forums are about are agendas and blowing people up that probably don't even want the Pub. Unless you are in the "watercooler forum" everyone that posts in these forums has an agenda - some more obvious than others. It's just the way things go. Are you honestly suprised that everyone that posted mentioned their teams starting goalie and the two behind him?

In all honesty, if you wanna see a sick goalie play go watch Pete J. from CSU. For his size he has some of the quickest hands. I don't know if he is the field general that Alex was but man that kid is solid.

Come on Pete you can do better than that, you are much funnier than a simple overstatement of the obvious cliche.

Mike stone had a rough showing against UNC, was it a shooting gallery? Poor defense? Off day? Just wondering cause it seems this is his worst showing so far this season, I know I was impressed with him when we played Mines.
