Westra, Schroeder Earn Weekly Great Rivers Lacrosse Honors

Dordt’s Jason Westra (Hull, IA/ Western Christian) was tabbed as this week's Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Player of the Week, while Lindenwood University’s Andrew "Fuzzy" Schroeder (Wildwood, MO./ Lafayette) has been named GRLC Rookie of the Week. Both accolades were announced Wednesday (March 29) by the conference.

Westra, a sophomore, made 23 saves in a 10-8 Division B victory over No. 10 Creighton. Dordt defeated their highest-ranked opponent this season. Against Nebraska - Omaha, Westra stopped 15 shots. Westra has recorded double-figure saves in six starts this season.

Schroeder, a freshman defenseman, was assigned the opposition's top attackman in each of the three games. Boston College's Brian Kinsella, Michigan's Evan Fox, and Arizona's Eric Poole were all limited to one goal each against Lindenwood.

Dodson, Lighthall & Black Earn Weekly GRLC Honors (April 5)

llinois’ Joseph Dodson (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) was tabbed as this week's Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Player of the Week, while Creighton’s Kent Lighthall (Denver, CO/Mullen) and Illinois’ Steven Black (Phoenix, AZ/ Chaparral H.S.) have been named GRLC Co-Rookie of the Week. Both accolades were announced Wednesday (April 5) by the conference.

Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week
Joseph Dodson, Illinois
So., A, Wilmette, IL/New Trier
Dodson scored eight goals and dished out two assists against two nationally ranked opponents last week. The sophomore attackman scored a season-high five goals against Oakland. He also recorded a hat trick with three goals versus Michigan State. On the year, Dodson has 16 goals and five assists.

Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Co-Rookie of the Week
Kent Lighthall, Creighton
Fr., M, Denver, CO/Mullen
Lighthall scored a career-high five goals for the Jays against GRLC rival Western Illinois. The freshman midfielder played most of the game and was a dominant force against the Leathernecks. Lighthall has four multi-point games this season and has tallied 12 goals and four assists.

Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Co-Rookie of the Week
Steven Black, Illinois
Fr., M, Phoenix, AZ/ Chaparral H.S.
Black contributed six goals and two assists for Illinois against nationally ranked foes Oakland and Michigan State last week. The freshman midfielder recorded five goals and three assists versus Oakland and had a goal and an assist against Michigan State. Black has five multi-point games this season and has tallied 14 goals and six assists.

Mullaney, Kohl & Schnitzer Earn Weekly GRLC Honors (April 14)

Creighton’s Conor Mullaney (Cumberland, MD/ Bishop Walsh H.S.) and Illinois Andrew Kohl (Northfield, IL/New Trier) share this week's Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Player of the Week honor, while Illinois’ David Schnitzer (Northbrook, IL / Glenbrook North) has been named GRLC Rookie of the Week. Both accolades were announced Thursday (April 13) by the conference.

Jr., A, Cumberland, MD/ Bishop Walsh H.S.
Mullaney scored nine goals and dished out nine assists in 4 days. The junior attackman scored four goals and had 2 assists against #5 Harding. Against #5 St. Thomas he found the net 5 times with 2 assists. He also recorded five assists versus Northwestern College. On the year, Mullaney has 26 goals and 26 assists.

Andrew Kohl, Illinois
So., M, Northfield, IL/New Trier
Kohl scored a career-high six goals for the Illini against Purdue. The sophomore midfielder continued the week scoring 2 goals against Kansas and 1 goal & 1 assist against Iowa. Kohl has ten multi-point games this season and has tallied 26 goals and five assists.

Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Week
David Schnitzer, Illinois
Fr., M, Glenbrook North/Northbrook, IL
Schnitzer contributed six goals and two assists for Illinois last week. The freshman midfielder recorded multi-point games against Kansas, Iowa & Purdue. Schnitzer has 14 goals and seven assists this season.

Zivilik, Brown and Swoboda Earn Great Rivers Weekly Honors

Illinois State’s Matt Zivilik (Vernon Hills, IL / Vernon Hills) and Bobby Brown (Libertyville, IL/ Libertyville) were tabbed as this week's Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Players of the Week, while Missouri’s Tom Swoboda (St. Louis, MO/CBC) has been named GRLC Rookie of the Week. Both accolades were announced Thursday (April 20) by the conference.

Matt Zivilik, Illinois State
Sr., A, Vernon Hills, IL / Vernon Hills
Zivilik scored five goals and dished out three assists against nationally ranked Illinois. The senior currently leads the GRLC in goals per game. On the year, Zivilik has 22 goals and 13 assists.


Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Co-Player of the Week
Bobby Brown, Illinois State
Sr., G, Libertyville, IL/ Libertyville
Brown had 19 saves in ISU's victory over nationally ranked Illinois. The senior goalie held the Illini to only 3 goals in the first half. Brown leads the GRLC in save percentage and goals against.

Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Week
Tom Swoboda, Missouri
Fr., M, St. Louis, MO/CBC
Swoboda contributed four goals for Missouri against GRLC foe Missouri State last week. The freshman midfielder dominated the face-off X, going 12 for 12. Swoboda has six multi-point games this season and has tallied 19 goals and four assists.
