Academic All-American Criteria

Academic All-American Criteria

Postby Matt_Gardiner on Mon Mar 13, 2006 1:46 pm

Rather than go directly to someone on the GRLC Executive Board, I wanted to ask this question in the forums so everyone could benefit from it.

What is the process to have a player recognized as an Academic All-American?

What criteria is used?

I believe its just having a 3.0 GPA. I should honestly know this but I dont. There is another criteria as well and I think its that they have the be nominate for all conference but I may be wrong about that.

a player must have a cumulative gpa of 3.2 or higher and be named to the all conference team. cumulative gpa is determined as of the the player's last grades immediately preceding the start of the lacrosse season. if your school is on the semester system a player would need a cumulative 3.2 gpa as of the end of fall semester 2005.

Thank you Will. I feel awful that I have never once submitted any players names for Academic All-American honors. It is a very meaningful award and I hope that this thread keeps others from making the same mistakes I have.

I can think of at least five players off the top of my head that would have earned the honor if I had submitted their names when I was in the CCLA. I am sorry Ryan Ludera, Curt Mason, Scott Saunders, Jeff Mann, and Tom Bougher.

freshman are eligible.

you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 scale, as of the last completed semester/quarter.

if arkansas is on the semester system, each player's cumulative GPA (based on the last completed semester) is already established.

Are players on Div. A sized schools playing in Div. B eligible for all-conference honors? If not, this would make them ineligible for Academic All-American.

Calahan (Nebraska) was HM all conference in the B division last year. I think the answer is yes.
