How will Division B shape up this year?

So many conference games to be played, but with little info out there, make an educated guess on how the top 6 will look, and why. Can any poor playing programs of the past make a run for conference championship weekend in Logan? I say NO!

My Guess would be,

Montana, ranked in the top ten, should be a competator
UVSC, also ranked in the top ten, should be a competator
Fort Lewis, ranked in top 20, seems they always pull something together
UNC, could be anywhere within the top 4, another one of those teams that cannot seem to make it over the hump, very close though. Good showing in California, and also ranked in the top 20..

Who rounds out the final two spots?

Western? 0-4 start, so probably not. Heard they have nice jerseys though.
Mines 2-1 beating Western and Regis, and a close one with UNC. Contender!
Wyoming 25+ guys on the sideline! What? Can they become a contender. Not unless they have a good coach and some crazy lacrosse players transfer to Wyoming, it will be interesting to see. My guess is no for Logan.
Regis? First year team going to Logan, NO! If their goalie had 37 saves in their first and only game, I smell trouble. That must have been some kind of goalie performance. 37 saves! Cant wait to see him in action..
CSU-Pueblo, small roster and 1 win last year, but a 9-5 showing against UVSC last year, how did that happen? Maybe they came together at the end of the year? I have no idea where this team will end up.

Today's Montana State versus UVSC will most likely determine the RMLC-B favorite going into the playoffs, but there's still a lot to be determined. Right now UNC, Mines, and Fort Lewis appear to fall in line behind those top two. And the team that I think will emerge to claim the 6th seed will be Western State.
We'll see how things shape up with the rest of the teams. Wyoming and CSU-P both haven't played a conference game, so it's difficult to rank them.

Shocker p that's weird to throw out those predictions with two teams not playing conference games yet (Wyoming and Fort) and no team playing more than 4 games.... But heres my two cents so far on whats been happening and hopefully things to come.

UVSC: Beat Montana by 3, ranked in top 10, I would say favorite.
Montana: Gave UVSC a run for the money, ranked in top 10, franke is picking up where selvestre left off.
UNC:At THIS point would say 3rd, lost 2 both teams in cali by 7 (isn't that a good amount still?) and beat irvine (their 2-5), beat a good mines team (mines plays a great team game.), ranked top 25.
Fort Lewis:Havn't proven anything yet they played two teams which neither are above .500.Wish the southwestern game happend would have told alot more, but the March 23rd v. UVSC gamewill be a big game. (could be interesting)
Mines::Play great as a team, have multiple scoring threats as well as a great goalie, (possilby one of the more under ranked team.)
Wyoming:Havn't played a single game but has a large roster with young players, who knows what young talent they have hidden.
Regis:Lost to mines pretty decisive as well as a upstart team so not such a great start.
CSU-Pueblo--Have a great player in Elsner but needs a supporting cast to become a contender, but a hell of a fun team to play as all the player have great character and humor.

Now since I am biased and do play for western and was a little offended at how 0-4 seemed to be what has pegged us as the reason were a non-contender i'll throw out some counter points hopefully to make a good case lol

Western:0-4 start losing ONLY by 5 (two less than Montana lost by) to UVSC. FIRST game of the season, lost to a mines team that handily out played us, the other two games were too D1 schools (DU club is not a normal club team, those boys know how to play lol), We defeated pueblo by 10 goals with 6 different goal scorers as well as dominating all aspects of the game with ground balls, faceoffs. We currently practice in a small indoor gym in gunnison (because of snow and -20 weather) that isnt 40 yards long and 20 yards at the most wide. So I think this attributes to our rough start but we have all of the rest of our divisional games at home except for fort lewis who in the spring beat us by one with pouson being their main weapon (who isnt with them this season). So as you can see I am biased but with a roster of 31 guys plus a great goalie (had a 43 save game against mines), as well as a divisonal schedule that favors us (being at home) plus able to be practicing outdoors for them all, i'm looking for us to be a dark horse contender.

RMLC Seeding for Logan UT:

1. UVSC
2.Montana
3.Western
4.UNC
5.Mines
6.Fort Lewis

Who knows really way to early to tell I just like that the league is getting to be alot closer in competitions and shifts happen.

Current posts seem to be in accordance of the top 6 RMLC-B teams with slightly differing orders of those same 6 teams. Obviously, most favor UVSC, then Montana State. Who knows how the last 4 teams will shape out. I look forward to the 3/23 Fort Lewis vs. UVSC and 3/26 UNC vs. Montana State games. These games will give a good idea of just how far (or close) the top two are from the rest of the pack.

i would agree with you scott, those are two pivotal games for the seedings.

Wait one minute! No way can a goalie chalk up more than 30 saves in a game, and not be beaten by 20 goals. I have seen a lot a padding going on for goalies. But one cannot truly say that 35+ saves is realistic. Shots on goal does not mean a save!

Anyone that puts that has a poor defense, or a rock star for a goalie..

It is definately gonna be a close division this year, can't wait for playoffs.

Western def. Metro state 14-8 in a snowy snowy game, puts western to 2-4 overall and 1-2 divisonal.

You are actually counting Metro as a game?

Who cares what you call it, a game or scrimmage versus Metro State. Metro State has lost to... Mines 2 - 11, CSU-P 9 - 13, and now Western State 8 - 14. They are a new team struggling with the start-up issues and that's fine.

This is similar to other games like Mines versus UNM, and UNC versus DU Club, and Western State versus DU Club. None of these count towards playoffs, OOC games, or any ranking. And we all know they are really just to help out those teams that aren't in the conference and have to struggle for games. Plus they help with practice. Maybe we should all just call them scrimmages.

hey i am the president of Metro State Lacrosse. I would just like to post and thank the teams that have added us to their schedule this semester in order for us to try to get a team together. I would like to add that we did beat Regis 6-3 at Regis in February. UVSC has been the team to beat the past few years, they looked decent against Mont. St. Its ALWAYS a nail biter when Fort comes to Orem, should be a fun game.
Biggest National matchup of the year for UV is when Montana comes to town, we will be able to compare them with the rest

canal you say in your post that csm out played you, so how can you have western rated above them. Not to mention haveing western in front of unc and fort.

I can say that mines beat us and rank us above them becuase we are practicing indoors in a small gym barely the size of the restraining box which hinders any team from performing well. If we were to play mines late in the season I think it would be a different game. Plus I believe are team will only get better. I love how people take offense to my rankings lol, go post your own rankings no one really knows what will happen but if you READ I think were above fort because we lost to them in fall with the EXACT same team we have now by 1 yet tyler pouson was 75% of their offense in which he isn't there and I can only judge us being better then UNC from hopes and knowing what our team has to offer.
Yes I consider playing Metro a game, why wouldn't it be? We didn't put it on our official schedule so its a scrimmage but we still played a game. So don't everyone get your panties in a ruffle and we only had 15 guys for the metro game 5 which were starters the rest were not so we were pleased with the game/scrimmage/who cares what we call it. lol

I also have a huge problem when i hear that a goalie has anywhere from 30 to 176 saves in a game. Just because a player shots, and the ball doesn't go into the net, it doesn't make that a save. If I was a goalie with 30+ real saves in a game, i would punch each of my defenders in the face 3 times with my helmet.
This talk takes me back to a time when a goalie we all remember, know, and love amazingly racked up 45 saves against UVSC last year in only the 1st half. It just doesn't happen.
