who does everyone like in the UCSD@Chapman & LMU@ASU matchups?
does St Mary's have a chance against Cal Poly SLO?
what about SDSU@UCSB? (after an unexpected upset of LMU)

- The UCSD/Chapman game will be tightly contested, but I think Chapman will pull it out at home by 1 or 2.
- ASU will handle LMU easily at home by 4 or 5 goals, especially since they will most likely get throttled by Arizona the day before.
- St. Mary's has no chance against Poly in my opinion. Although UCLA played Poly close, St. Mary's just doesn't have enough firepower to hang with Poly. I'd say Poly by 7.
- Santa Barbara will take SDSU behind the woodshed...19-2 is my guess.

UCSD vs. Chapman: Very close game, both teams looked pretty sharp when I saw them play this fall. I also see this as a 1-2 goal game with Chapman as my favorite to win.
ASU vs. LMU: It's too bad there's been so much turmoil at LMU this year, but after two 1-2 goal wins vs. Div B teams and a shutout by SDSU, I see LMU getting creamed by ASU. ASU looked strong in Vegas this fall and I think it could be much more like a 8 or 9 goal win by ASU.
Cal Poly vs. St. Mary's: I was surprised by the score of the UCLA vs. Cal Poly game, I thought Poly would have done more damage, but I still think they are a good team and will be too much for St. Mary's. I predict a 7-10 goal win by Poly.
UCSB vs. SDSU: I agree, UCSB will dismantle SDSU just like they do to pretty much every team they play. I think it will be more like 13-2, SB pulls their starters when they go up big which I really respect them for.

Just exactly how does that affect the outcome of any game? 'Splain it to me.

It would be nice if it actually worked that way, but it doesn't. Talent, stick skills, good coaching & knowledge of the game has much more to do with winning games than doing pushups after a 2.5 mile run.

Listen, obviously the ASU brought this idea in with him. And look at the results, ASU played great lacrosse in Vegas. Perhaps its not only the timed run that is improving the team, but the mantra of the coach.

It helps, but that doesn't mean you can catch or throw worth a damn.
The best part about lacrosse is that although raw physical talent helps, you can find a niche based on other skills.
Dumptruck attackmen who screen the goal and get garbage goals come to mind. So do some face-off specialists I've seen play. These guys weren't great athletes, but they had a role and did it well.

I probably couldnt run a mile without stopping and I bet I could still hold my own against all the guys that could complete this so-called endurance test. In my book, if you're a better lacrosse player, you will win most matchups against an inferior player, regardless of what shape he is in.

You can have all the dedication and discipline you want, but if you don't have some raw talent the only thing your gonna dominate is this message board. Dedication and discipline can be instilled in a player thru training, the intangibles are much more important. I'll take talent and a place in the playoff's.

Poly/Gaucho tonight - UPDATES?
Anyone posting updates on the Poly/Gaucho game that just started?
It would make my evening with a very boring settlement agreement I have to draft much more enjoyable....
