Vandy vs. UT

Postby Leachmtb on Tue Feb 08, 2005 2:26 pm

In the Who's Going To Take The SELC Forum, there has been quite a bit of discussion about Vandy versus UT coming up in about 10 days. So, This will be a new forum devoted to the best arguments of who is going to win and why.

My vote: Vandy. That gross orange at UT is terrible. Plus, Vandy is playing at home.

The only time I've lost to Vandy has been when we played them in Nashville 2 years ago (the dreaded 5-11 season.....*shudders*). That being said, the Vandy game has always been a close one for what I can remember and I am predicting that this one be decided by 3 or less goals. Last year we won in OT in the freezing rain, so it isn't like Vandy can't play. They can, and anyone who doubts them would be wise to reconsider. On another note, I easily see Vandy getting back into the SELC Tournament this year.

Having seen both teams play this year, I can say with some certainty that it should be a close game. A couple of things that I see being factors: 1)UT apparently lost the strapping young man who put in like 5-6 goals on Vandy last year. 2) Vanderbilt is getting better fast at this point, and it's only a matter of time until they're straight bringin' it. Watch out, lest you get burned. As you may have guessed by now, I'm picking Vandy to take this one in a close game, although UT is an impressive team. Unless UT can get Brent Schaeffer to play midfield, I see them dropping this game in Nashville. You could argue, but you would be wrong.

JUST IN: Tennesssee got Gerald Riggs to play midfield for the Vandy game, but unfortunately Brent Schaeffer turned down the fame and glory to focus on his Intramural basketball. Just Kidding.

The UT-Vandy game will be a very good game and will come down to whoever makes the least unforced errors in my opinion.

Couldn't have said it better myself

UT's Losses Last Weekend

Postby Leachmtb on Mon Feb 14, 2005 7:27 pm

I wonder if UT's unsuccessful weekend will play a roll this weekend. If so, it's tough to predict whether it will inspire them for a good game on Friday or is it an indicator of more to come.

I think that it will make for a much more entertaining game.

Vandy

Postby Leachmtb on Sun Feb 20, 2005 4:08 pm

Looks as if Vandy won the unlikely game of the week. I'm feeling pretty confident since only one person picked them in the other forum that mostly Vanderbilt players picked them to win that game. That's why I'm picking Vandy to be the upset team of the year.
