MDIA President John Paul has just announced in a thread on this site that the B Division field will be expanded to 12 teams for 2006. This is exciting news!
I believe that the three highest-ranked B teams in the Final Poll -- who do NOT win their conference's AQ to nationals -- will be invited as At-Large participants. I assume that these teams must, however, have played the required three OOC games to qualify.
I sure hope that one or more of these at-large teams will come from the PNCLL.

I think that A Division teams need 3 OOC games. B Division teams need only 2 OOC games.

Dan, thanks for sharing the great news with the PNCLL. . .Last year, with a 12-team field, Claremont, Appalacian St., PLU and Ind. U. of PA would have been at-large teams had the field been 12 teams. . .I would have enjoyed that thoroughly. . .
The PNCLL B division is extremely talented and deep. I hope to see more than one PNCLL team make the trip to Nationals in '06. . .

It should be interesting to see how the WCLL and PNCLL teams match up. . .I don't like the format, with a couple teams playing two full games in one day, but it should certainly help us determine the relative strength of these teams.
Unfortunately, I no longer coach at PLU and won't be making the trip, but I am very curious to see how these two B conferences match up. Obviously, last year USD was a cut above everyone -and Claremont was also a top-5 team. Montana was fantastic last year, and played great at nationals. . .with the USD game being the one glaring exception.
I think USD and Claremont are going to be loaded again. PLU is going to be really good, with 6 starters coming back in 06, but they lost their goalie and team captain Bret Bartell, who is going to be really difficult to replace. . .
It will be fun to watch down in your neck of the woods. . .

If it's anything like Laxtoberfest there will be a concession area and probably a couple of booths set up. UCI has a pretty nice set up. If you want to know more about field conditions or how that event was run you could PM any of the WCLL coaches who took part in it. It seemed to go pretty well with most teams playing at least two-three games. Of course that was fall ball, but the field conditions shouldn't be all that different come February.

California teams play on grass almost exclusively and depending on weather the playing conditions may change.
