Minnesota-Duluth as good as last year to receieve the votes for #1? Who are their big guns this year, or players that have come in(freshman/transfers) to continue their dominance in the UMLL?

I thought I remember seeing on the old board that Duluth got a bunch of good freshmen and this might be one of their best recruiting classes ever.

Ziebol and Daehn are two sweet defense returning for UMD. Poshiack (sp?), P. Nelson, and Middelstead at attack are new guys that will contribute. Don't know much about the middies but I know Kyle Klossner is playing up there this year, and was a pretty good player in HS a few years back.

My 2 cents

8) Big game this Friday, I am thinking Bulldogs by a lot. All of Duluth's young quick talent should really shine in boxlax, especially with no longpoles. By the way, do the Gophers really deserve a #2 UMLL slot after missing most of the tear last year? I dont know. Thats a lot of respect. I might be upset if I were a pointer, mav, or Ole!! Time will tell.

Since nobody from our team or anyone else has posted, I think I will. We too have a soild incoming freshmen class as well as our returning starters. As far as our preseason ranking, I think that we are deserving as much any other team because we have proved as much this year as anyone else. Who knows which teams lost which players or who decided to not play. As far as the game at the excel, look for a close game, becuause we too have some athletes who will flourish with the absence of long poles.

1. Preseason polls are by definition irrelevant. Note St. Olaf's outstanding season last year and their preseason poll positon from last year.

2. I think the XCel game will be fun, and since we won't be keeping score (it is an exhibition game), the focus should be on enjoyment of the new game. I'm sure that both sides will note the absence of long poles. I'm looking forward to seeing the Daehn v. Rissman short stick matchup myself.

3. Let's keep the debate civil gentlemen. Chris Larson is one of my best friends, and I respect his team greatly. Support your team and don't cast aspersions on anyone else's team is my suggestion.
