FARMER'S KORNER - Summit High School could soon have two more teams on its varsity roster.
The Summit Lacrosse club has submitted a proposal to have its boys and girls high school-aged teams recognized as members of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), a designation that could begin with the 2006 spring season.
The club first broached the idea to SHS athletic director Gretchen Nies, then submitted a formal proposal late last month. Nies will review the proposal and pass it up the district's chain; eventually the decision will rest in the hands of the Board of Education.
If approved by Summit's school board, the CHSAA designation would mean Summit Lacrosse's high school club teams would play under the wing of Summit High just as any other Tigers team. The lacrosse squads would compete against other CHSAA schools, most of which are located on the Front Range.
