Men's Lacrosse Names Mark King Assistant Coach

DENVER- The University of Denver head men's lacrosse coach, Jamie Munro announced the hiring of Mark King as an assistant coach for the lacrosse program. King joins current assistants Jon Torpey, Mike Law, Corey Vann and Christian Zuberbuehler to complete Munro's staff for the upcoming lacrosse season.

King comes from to Denver from Madison, Wis. where he was the head coach of the Verona High School boy's lacrosse team and an assistant video coordinator in the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department. At Wisconsin, King was in charge of creating scouting film projects and game highlight videos. Under King's leadership Verona's boy's lacrosse team has consistently been rated as one of the best prep teams in the state of Wisconsin.

King spent his collegiate days as a four-year member of the Marquette men's club team. He is the director and owner of King Lacrosse camps, which puts on camps and clinics for youth lacrosse players and served as the head coach for the Verona Lacrosse Association.

King was a pivotal member of the lacrosse movement in the state of Wisconsin. He was a founding member of the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation, Madison Area Lacrosse Association and the Verona Lacrosse Association. King also served as President of the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation and currently serves as the US Lacrosse Great Lakes regional representative.

"We are very excited to have Mark King join our program," Munro said. "He's a great guy who will fit in well with our staff and our student-athletes. We feel that his video background will give us an edge on our competition."

The Jefferson, Wis. native earned a bachelor degree in Communications from Marquette University in 1993.

That will pretty much put the kibosh on Madison joining the USLIA in the near future.

Good for Mark-bad for lacrosse in eastern Wisconsin
