Scheduling of 2006 PNCLL Games

Scheduling of 2006 PNCLL Games

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Mon Aug 15, 2005 4:06 pm

PNCLL President Josh Barbour has informed the member teams, through their official contacts, that the league has adopted a new process for the scheduling of conference games. Here is the text of Josh's e-mail dated Aug 12th:

"As you may know, the PNCLL AGM is scheduled for September 24th, 2005 in Tacoma.

As you also may know, the PNCLL (and most other lacrosse organizations) are experiencing a referee shortage. To combat the referee shortage and ensure that all scheduled 2006 games get qualified referees, the PNCLL will adopt a new scheduling process for 2005. This new process will also greatly reduce the cost of referee travel and therefore keep the game fees reasonable.

The PNCLL Executive Board has appointed a Game Scheduler. The Game Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling all PNCLL A and B Division games (instead of having representatives from each team create their own schedules at the league meeting, as in years' past). The 2005 Game Scheduler will be David Schmitz.

Each team will still responsible for creating their own OOC schedule. Your OOC schedule must be complete before the AGM on Sept. 24th. Each team must submit their OOC schedule (both home and away) and dates they can not travel/host games (i.e. Finals week, Spring Break, etc.).

The 2006 PNCLL schedule will be released by October 24th, 2005. After October 24th, teams will then be allowed to schedule PNCLL inter-divsional games (i.e. an A team playing a B team).

Thank you and see you in September."

OOC games

Postby Laxfan23 on Thu Aug 25, 2005 3:23 pm

Alright, scheduling OOC games in September can be a little rough. I know a lot of RMLC teams don't even consider their OOC scheduling until their conference scheduels are made.

Does a division B squad need 2 OOC games to go to nationals?

I DEFINITILY think teams should be able to schedule OOC after the meeting. If refs are the only concern, can a team simply put aside two weekends where they plan on hosting an OOC team?

Recently a majority of the top 20 A teams are scheduling games in the summer with 2 year commitments (home and away). At the AGM last year at least 2 of the A teams in the PNCLL only had a few dates open for their divisional games.

I am sure CSU, BYU and CU already have OOC games planned for this if not next year also.

not right now cause it is only conference champs that go to nationals, when they expand the tourny and there are at large bids then they will...

Send Coach Schmitz The Dates You Can/Can't Play!

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Mon Sep 26, 2005 8:07 pm

Just a reminder to all PNCLL team reps - please be sure to e-mail Coach Schmitz at Whitman (schmitdf@whitman.edu) the dates you CAN'T play conference games this upcoming season. These should include your Finals, Spring Break, and the dates you are committed already to playing out of conference games (teams from outside the PNCLL). let Dave know if you want to play any teams from the other division (i.e. A teams that B teams want to play and vice versa). Also, let Dave know exactly when you are prepared to begin conference play (Feb. 1st or later if your school starts late) for the season.

The sooner everybody gets this info to Dr. Schmitz, the sooner he can draft our master schedule and release this to all the schools.

Thanks!
