As a player from Grove City, I'm not extremely well versed as to how the all league teams work. I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts about who the best players at each position are?
Here are my thoughts - though we didn't get to play against Taylor, so I haven't included any of their players. Also, I didn't include any of the players on my team, though I think we have many deserving players.
Attack:
T.J. Preperato, IUP
Terry Nichter, Ball St.
Adam Pietrecarlo, Calvin
Midfield:
Bryan Algeo, IUP
Will Krueger, Calvin
Jimmy Deterding, Calvin
Josh Steveson, Ferris St.
Defense:
Free Shaw, Calvin
Marty Carbonell, IUP
Brad Luetje, Ball St.
John Barkel, Calvin
Goalies:
Ben Levine, IUP
Jason Sugg, Ferris St.

I think Evan Feinberg from Grove City definitely should be on there. As far as Ball St players... they are playing down a Division so I'm not sure if we should take that into consideration or not.

I agree that some Grove City players should be included, but I just felt strange including guys from my team, but here's a list of Grove City players I feel are deserving:
Evan Feinberg, Attack (leading ppg in MDIA)
Drew Wardlow, Attack (6 goals vs. Calvin, 6 goals vs. IUP, showed up in the big games)
Matt Hiestand, Defense
Jon Straub, Goalie (21 saves vs. Calvin, 18 saves vs. IUP)
I wish more people would respond to this post, and discuss different individuals from both their own teams and other teams in the conference.

Here's a link to the CCLA-B stats page. Obviously it doesn't give you much input about defense and goalies. And points aren't the only thing to take into consideration, but it's somewhere to start.

I play for IUP, just to let that be known. I did not get to play against Hope, Taylor or GVSU, so i haven't included them. I'm also not sure whether Ball State is to be included or not, so i will list them anyway. I play attack, so i mostly remember other attackman, goalies and the poles that we played against. I will try to remember middies. That being said, here are the players that most impressed me.
Attack:
Evan Feinberg - Grove City
Drew Wardlow - Grove City
Adam Pietrocarlo - Calvin
Terry Nichter - Ball State
Midfield:
Will Krueger - Calvin
Kevin Brauner (LSM) - Ball State
Defense:
John Barkel - Calvin
Eric Bratt - Calvin
Andy McInerney - Ferris State
Tyler Hart - Ball State
Goalie:
Jon Straub - Grove City
Jason Sugg - Ferris State
IUP Players for consideration:
A - T.J. Preperato (24g, 20a, 5 games)
A - Jim Holleran (14g, 12a, 5 games)
A - Jeff Casey (13g, 5a, 5 games)
M - Bryan Algeo (9g, 8a, 5 games, dominant on faceoffs)
M - Matt Allen(6g, 9a, 5 games)
D - Marty Carbonell
D - Nate Ibarguen
D - Mike Edge
G - Ben Levine (roughly 45 SVs and 45 GA, 9.0 GAA)
Just my opinions. Does anyone know how All-Conference/All-American are decided, and when?

I am a defensemen at Ferris and Andy McInerney is one of the best defense i have ever seen. The kid is quick, good defense, blocks passes without even trying and deffinenly can lay out some great hits.

I am glad you mentioned Adam Pietrocarlo (Sr/Att/#11)of Calvin. He has been out these past 4 games, so his numbers may look a bit diluted.
Here are his numbers minus those 4 games:
Games: 7
Goals: 30
Assists: 12
Points: 42
GPG: 4.29
APG: 1.71
PPG: 6
I'd like to mention to Clayton Camozzi (Sr/Att/#4), he's had several commendable games with 4g/2a vs Hope, 4g/2a vs GVSU, 2g/6a vs UMD, and 6g/1a vs Taylor.
I am still going over my records as to who Calvin will be nominating, but it seems that you've already got a good start.

I play attack at Grove City and from what I've seen and played against I would have to say the best defensemen I've seen this year is Free Shaw from Calvin. Also another player, though I'm alittle biased is Matt Hiestand from Grove City, going up against him in practice everyday I can promise he is one of the top defensemen in the league. In my opinion no other defensemen I've seen this year have been at the level those two are at.

Keep in mind looking at stats for IUP that Hope forfeited their game against us, so the PPG is skewed a game. TJ Preperato would actually be leading the whole league in PPG with 8.8 a game.

Hope forfeited against Grove City too.

Yes, Hope did forfeit to Grove City as well. But that game was not entered into the stats. Grove City is on there with 6 games. The Hope game would've been the 7th. The 6 games in the stats for IUP includes Hope.
IUPs Games:
1 Dearborn
2 Calvin
3 Hope
4 Ball St
5 Grove City
6 Ferris State
Grove Citys Games:
1 Calvin
2 Dearborn
3 Grand Valley State
4 Hope
5 Ball St
6 IUP
7 Ferris State

I know it's in bad taste to boast about one's own team, so I will try to keep this humble. I noticed that no one from UMD has gotten any recognition, and looking at our record, I can see why our boys might get overlooked. However, I'd like to post some statistics of our players for your consideration.
#4 Nick Barilovich (Mid) posted 107 ground balls for the season, 60 more then the next highest player.
#25 Steve Litwin (Att) had 24 points this season, leading the team in scoring with 16 goals, and having the third highest GB count with 31.
#26 Mike Wagner (Att) led the team with 12 assists, compiling a total of 22 points.
Note that my statistics take into consideration non-CCLA games. CCLA stats can be found on the Stats page of the USLIA site. Thanks.
