You guys seem to be pretty heated about the MVP race. Just for kicks, who are the favorites for rookie of the year? I've seen the names Deeke, Sunderland, Trevor Hussey, etc. These discussions are actually pretty important because most players don't realize who are freshmen. Now debate my minions. Dance puppets dance!

ps. I didn't realize that Ryan Sauce Davis was so emotional when it came to these discussions.....

UT has a great rookie long stick middie/ d-man named Ernst Leiss. He played his hs ball at St Johns in Hou. and has great fundamentals.
Mark my words. Over the next few years he will be turning heads throughout the Nation.

As a defenseman, I was very impressed with UT's pole. The kid played the entire game as if he never ran out of gas.... He seemed to have a variety of take-away checks at his disposal as well. Hopefully he can gain more national attention throughout his career.

There is no doubt that Ernst will continue to gain National recognition and soon dominate the LSA, he will have to keep working on it though. These things can give a kid a big head, but all my reports say Ernst is not that kind of kid. He can run all day long, as he takes the wing on nearly every face-off and then drops into close d the moment the face is over. I am sure the upcoming playoffs will showcase some of his skills to more than just the team UT is playing at the time.

The Aggies have a ton of rookies this year, a few should be considered for ROY but just wait for the coming years to watch these kids represent the LSA.

Steve Sunderland is the best pole UNT has ever had, as a freshman. The kid is going to be ridiculous in the next couple years. Trevor Hussey is also someone to look at. He will break all UNT scoring records if/when he plays all 4 years. He gives the attack a different look because he is a speed dodger and Chris is more of a power guy. Call me a homer, but my boys deserve some credit and recognition. This seems to be the way to get names out. Plus, I see them play every week in practice and I know how good they are.

His name is Michael Carrington, and he is sick. I couldn't make the Texas game, but apparently he took it over. All-American at EHS in Houston, and I've heard he has the Texas high school record for points in a game from one last year against Plano. He's got my vote hands down.

Gotta go with Deeke; Plano schools baby! Great performances against OOC opponents including a 4-goal game against powerhouse, CSU.

I would put a couple of guys from A&M up there, Dabs (goalie), Deeke (midfield) and Alex Bouchard (midfield). I think they all have contributed a lot for the Aggeis.

Without Dabs in the cage I'm not exactly sure where the season would have gone and he was incredible in the CSU game keeping A&M in it until the last 2 min of the second quarter. He has some improvements to make, but I believe he is will be the best goalie in the LSA.

Deeke, well four goals against CSU from practically the top of the box is pretty awesome. I believe they were all in the first half too? I had very high expectations for him coming into the season and he has met some of those, but is capable of so much more. I'm sure we will see good things from him in the future including being A&M's next AA.

Alex, has probably been the most consistent midfielder for the Aggies. If he can take care of his defense, he has the ability to become a really great midfielder.

Anyways, all very young, some improvements here and there and these guys will be hard to stop.

I know what you mean when you say this Dustin but it sounds a little wierd to say a team stayed in it before the first half was over.


I saw Carrington play last year and I totally agree about his abilities. Haven't heard what he has done at SMU but he definitely earned his AA status last year. Although, I thought he was offered to play back east.

Deeke has lived up to his brother's fame and will continue to improve. I think these two players are both worthy of mentioning while discussing Rookie awards.

I don't think it sounds weird at all. It was just more obvious that he was playing out of his mind before CSU went up by 5 or whatever it was. I would have talked about how he played well all game, but Tony pulled him to allow time for everyone to play in the fourth. I don't think everyone realizes that about the CSU game.

We've got a couple of freshman that have been serious contributors this year. Attackman John Staples, a Maine transplant, has averaged over 3 goals a game and nearly 4 points a game. He has been fun to watch. Our goalie, David Moldovan, came to us as an attackman from Plano East this fall but was forced/volunteered into goal as our first three options in goal fell through for various reasons...He has played remarkably for someone who just took up the position.

Thanks for the clarification D, I had only seen parts of a short game tape that focused on A&M's offense.
