17 points in a game (Tech vs OSU) is some sort of record and warrants national recognition...

Players can have all the stats they want vs lower ranked teams it doesn't bother me, but let's not reward people for it, because it just hurts the respect of the other players by diluting the awards pool. Not a shot at the kid, I'm sure he doesn't have anything to do with it, but a shot at the bourgeoisie who did that without appropriate research.

I'm suprised that Phillip Johnson wasn't on the list, he lead the LSA in goals and was second on the LSA statistics. Congrats to James, Bouchard, Schneider and Wolf for making the list.

You say this like the LSA MVP has never had such statistics. I can think of a few players who've won LSA MVP recognition after having incredulous statistics against weaker teams.

What I ask you is: How would you conduct the appropriate research?

First I want to congratulate the LSA AA recipients. I believe the LSA was represented by more playrs this year than last. Wasn't Will James the only AA last year?

Statistical debates go on in every sport. One thing that I hope we as a league can do a better job of is submitting our paperwork on time every time. From what I understand there were a couple teams in our conference that did not even submit All Conference ballots.

Coaches and Presidents that do this only hurt the legitamcy of the LSA. Do you think that Desko, Pietramala, or Danowski forgot to submit their ballots?

I hope that eventually we can get all of our nominated players selected.

i think Nathan Tabb was the only LSA all american last year. i could be wrong though.

17 points in a game! cmon bro. i don't care if he was playing 7th graders and wouldn't come out of the game until the last two minutes! 17 points! Duke football averaged 17 points a game...

i agree with NYBuilt. im not just saying this because bryce is my team mate, but most of his points came from assists(sharing the ball). most of his assists in the OSU game were to players that scored very little or none during the season. you cant knock a guy for sharing the ball!

I know what you mean, and I've disagreed with that in the past but this is the first time I've voiced my dissent. Everyone knows of www.mcla.us (or they should...) and you can easily view statistics from every game. If you don't see a player in person you can at least view his statistical performance in the games that matter against the more difficult opponents.

3rd team all LSA to 3rd team All America is a big jump. The whole point of my argument is to get the people in charge of this sort of thing to start acting more responsibly for their positions and doing some actual research to at least confer all america awards on the people who were up for all america consideration (and I don't think anyone would argue that THAT is too much work). I would love for conference awards to warrant such background research as well, but I understand the difficulty because of a lack of submissions by teams although the fact that it doesn't happen is still ridiculous IMO.

Anyhow, it's none of my business except that when I'm working in the offseason setting goals like "I want to be All Conference and All America" I want it to mean something, because when those in charge don't take the time to do their research, it doesn't.

Oh and this is just a really late rant on my general opinion towards LSA conference selections that I finally decided to bring up once I saw AA's so nothing personal to Wolf.

swampthing I agree with you, and this problem is especially apparent in DII. While I dont know a ton about DI and only a little about DII. I have seen people selected for 1st team who are obviously worse than people selected for 3rd team or not selected at all. The same thing goes for AA and MVP or offensive/defensive POTY, when there is not some sort of consistency between these highest conference honors and AA selections there is obviously something wrong.

I agree with swampthing that the problem occurs from two sources. From voters not knowing what is really going on in the conference, and from people not turing in ballots, and until these problems are corrected, the awards will not mean as much as they should.

I just hope that all of this criticism will compel voters to pay more attention next year so that all of the deserving players will get the praise they are warranted.

As a first year coach in the LSA Division 1, I took upon myself a large accountability to record and submit scores and post season awards information for my tenure as a coach.

I know that it can be tough to put all this information in post game and then to take time out of your day to submit post-season awards to some players you may never have heard of.

It is our duty and responsibility however to do just that. As a coach I am shocked and a much more ashamed that we do not have 100% submission for all these items. I am not saying I have all the time in the world to report these things but I will take every possible effort to do it myself. I will not pawn it down to players or leadership members of the the team to fill out that information.

I would hope that this issue comes up again at our annual meeting as I am sure it does every year, but this time we add some backing to the penalties.
