Stepping down at Idaho

Hey everyone,
Now that the Vandals have finished the 2008 season I feel it is the time to officially announce that I am stepping down as the head coach. I have enjoyed my time in Moscow working with this program and would have loved a playoff bid this year but am extremely happy with what this program has become in such a short period of time. I defend my PhD on Friday and have already accepted a job in Missoula, MT. I am confident that the coaching staff coming in will have the necessary tools to keep this program heading in the right direction. The new coaches will be announced at another time.
Coaching is something that I truly love and I feel like I have been able to positively influence the student/athletes that have come through the programs I have been a part of. I put my heart and soul into it and have loved every minute of it. Right now I am looking forward to defending and then heading back to Missoula for the final four. I am going to enjoy this new "vacation" of sorts with a media pass instead of a whistle and look forward to seeing many of you soon.
I'd like to give thanks to Rob McQuade who served as an assistant coach and my LSM. Rob has been a huge help for me and I know he will make a great head coach someday. I'd like to thank all the coaches and PNCLL EB. I thank my wife who has been extremely understanding and supportive of my decision to coach. I'd also like to thank all of my players. They stood tall through all the drills, push ups, yelling, strange analogies, etc. I'm proud of the team they have become.
I'd also like to thank SFU for the trainers table. Very nice gift fellas! Just kidding, I'll give it back at the Final four.
Beers on Dan in Missoula!
