I know that most of the people dialed into this board are also tied into the high schools ranks, and Westside Lax put out a poll and i figured we could start the discussion around that. I know a few teams went down south to play, with Break and Eagan posting scores on laxpower. According to lax power Breck went 0-3 and Eagan went 1-3. I know Breck played some top 25 teams though.
STX-WSL Minnesota Boys Top 10
1. Blake: 0-0- Dooley is going to Dartmouth, Jordan Seivold going to Navy, and added Rob Horn
2. Eden Prairie: 0-0- they have som big shoes to fill with their stud gone, but Jack Hewitt (StonyBrook) or Dan Jones (Virgina Wesleyan) maybe the man for that
3. Minnetonka: 0-0
4. Benilde-St. Margaret's: 0-0- A repeat is possible but can they do it losing Rob Horn, hartman, draxler etc
5. Edina: 0-0- Some strong defenders, but who will score?
6. Wayzata: 0-0
7. Eastview: 0-0- Came on real strong the end of last year, real athletic especially on D
8. Breck: 0-2- returning most of their D, seen some solid competition already
9. Totino-Grace: 0-0- real young, but strong athletes
10. Hill-Murray: 0-0

It is going to be very interesting to see how the MN Private confernece turns out with AHA, Breck, Blake, BSM, and TG all playing eachother twice. With those 5 anything can happen.

Now that I am out of the HS game, I can comment in the forum.
I am going to go out on a limb and go with Blake, as long as they can adjust to the new philosophies and schemes fast enough.
My sleeper team, who WILL be in the top 10 by the end of the year is, Mahtomedi. They have been building over there for the last 3 years and now have a team of tested seniors that have been playing since they were freshman and sophs.... Look out for the Zephyrs.
Oh and BTW...Hill-Murray???? Unless they have a huge freshman crop, I dont believe it.

The Favorite - Blake - Kip/Jordan make it so. My comments on RH are obviously biased, but I think he'll be great.
The Challengers - Eastview (how will they respond to last year's success) or Minnetonka (still might be young).
Who else is good....
BSM - lost alot, but a strong program reloads, and I think they are a strong program, So I'm going with Reloading, not rebuilding.
Bloomington. Two great defenders, offense returning from injury. Did well early. Dark Horse?
Edina - Good defense - JC is right - Who Scores?
Breck - interested in seeing how they do. Always very competitive.
TG - great coach- great attackman, Defense?
I've not seen the Zephers, but will take Jimmy R's word....

My top three looks like this:
My first pick has to be Blake with a solid staff and a some very nice seniors. Probably the top two players in the state. Tough to not pick these guys year in and year out.
Tonka looks real nice this year with a very young team. They probably have the talent and coaching to compete for a championship, but are they too young?? Is their defense going to be skilled enough? Next year they are my hands down #1 preseason pick.
Eastview looks to have a very athletic team especially at midfield. This might be a breakout year for them.
HM:EP, B. Jefferson, Benilde,
My two dark horse picks are Mounds View and Stillwater to have very nice seasons.

Again, Breck played some really tough competition down there. Check this out:
According to Laxpower (even though it's early in the season):
Calvert Hall - #5 in the nation
St. Mary's - #1 in the nation (Breck played them as well)
Calvert Hall also beat Landon 14-6. Landon is #10 in the nation, and don't forget they are a perennial lacrosse power in DC.
Breck should be tough this year, and definitely will be ready to play early in the season after such tough games down in Florida.

Dan its Calvert Hall! I have played with plenty of Calvert Hall guys. That has always been and always will be a very solid program nationally.
I think that is great for Breck to go out there...you dont know what high end lacrosse is untill you have seen it. Now they know what they need to do. That loss could be very useful for the future.
ALways a littled biased towards BSM since I coached there. I also am biased towards the Blake staff with Horn at the helm. He could do some good things there. Question is how many chefs in that kitchen.

2. Eden Prairie: "We have the biggest defense in the state," Eagles coach Ryan Ward said. "For teams to score goals, they're going to have to take a beating to do so."
Yes they are big, but they couldnt cover a 4th grader...
And we see the first bulletin-board material of the season!

Was that really the comment.
Big means a lot if the other team plans on sitting around waiting to be hit. Guess we will see.

Waiting to see what Tonkas defense shows up with. A young group last year.

Does anyone in this state ever understand sarcasm and humor???? I know, I know, I should have put this in
- and its really hard to get that across on a message board

You should know that coaches will even take stuff out of context to put on the bulletin board, so even if you put the smiley there the coach will just cut it out when it goes on the bulletin board!

I think people got the sarcasm.
At least I did but then again I know you love the sarcasm.
