Acoording to some of the folks on Laxpower's forum, they are saying Boy's Latin isn't even top H.S. team.

In all seriousness I think its great for Florida's lacrosse community and I think it will open some more eyes to whats going on down south there...

sorry i should have put some sarcasim into parenthesis....

I bet BL didn't play thier starters (sarcasim) and that it was just a scrimage (sarcasim).

MD guys are downplaying this as it was BL's first game as opposed to SA's tenth or so. Either way, I bet even five years ago those MD teams could have crushed anyone at anytime in the south or west. Everyone else is catching up. The East Coast needs to keep working harder if they want to keep the distance between them and the rest of the country.

My High School (St James MD) did the Spring Break trip to Boca very year. It was the mid-1980's. We played, St Andrew's, Pinecrest, Pope John Pul IV, Palmetto and West Palm Beach Academy. At the time, I believe they were the only teams in the area. We never lost to a Florida team. I think this shows just how far the sport has come in Florida.

My HS team habitually played BL, McDonough, Gilman, Georgetown Prep and Dematha to name a few. The ONLY time we beat BL was when we played so far above ourselves that our noses bled for a week afterwards.

GREAT JOB ST. ANDREW'S!

Nah man, I have a player who knows a guy who keeps stats for a team that played St. Andrew's earlier this semester. He said St. Andrews treated it like a scrimmage and ran their bench in the first 5 minutes.

Seriously though, good run for St. A's. I wish my hs team (Spalding) could put those scores up against those teams. I hope St Andrews plans a trip up to MD and has similar results to maybe put the naysayers to rest.

In true pollster fashion, St. Andrews beats Boys Latin and falls in the Inside Lacrosse rankings from #24 to #25...behind a ton of teams that haven't even played a game yet! Talk about rep controlling the polling.

Until a Florida High Schools sends a good number of players to D1 schools, there will be no respect shown. Even though there may be some here and there, it will take a lot for a college coach to take a chance on a Florida player because they do not play the competition day in and day out. And I hate to say it but camps do not count.

Jake Bernhart Midfield at Lake Brantley is going to Maryland....Wyatt Melzer (sp?) LSM at St. Andrews is going to UVA....slowly but surely....

college coaches don't usually take chances on Florida players because it is exactly that....a chance that they could find the same talent in their backyard.

Eventually they will be drawn in by the generally superior HS athletic talent of the sunbelt states.

Both players mentioned above are outstanding football players as well...and i've seen quite a few kids get recruited exclusively from camps....

Danny, you've highlighted the key. The kids from these areas have to get out to camps.
