Sorry, but you are wrong about this one. Any attempt on goal, whether it misses cage or not, is considered a shot in lacrosse (same as in hockey). Goalie save or goal = shot on goal. Saves = shots ON GOAL - goals. I am obviously biased towards this measure of stat, but this is the standard way to take them. If you look at any stat program or Division I stat results page, you will see different columns for shots and shots on goal.
