The Goose Family
It seems Hunter Stadium has become the adopted home of a family of nesting Canada Geese. This bad dude is the gander that has been terrorizing most LU practices for the last three weeks, culminating in several guest appearances during the GRLC tournament.
Even today, during our preparations for nationals, he has the courage to step up and challenge several fully equipped Lions to a duel. However, political correctness won over when our Canadian players came to the aid of their countryman (or is it country-bird?).
Congrats should also go out to Illini defenseman Phil Dodson for defending himself against a ferocious attack from the gander in question during the U of I vs ISU semi-final. After executing moves that would make Jackie Chan proud, Dodson brought the ball back in play like nothing happened. Far more entertaining than anything else that night; even Holden's dive goal that was called back.
The Goose is Loose. Lord help us all!!!

If that were the case then teams would have to shell out more in dues. The position would be strictly voluntary, you'd have to get nominated at the fall meeting, and most importantly... they'd have to vote to create such a position.
Would it be possible for a player to apply for that position, or just a coach/assistant
i know i would be down to apply for that role

You guys are all jumping the gun. In order to pay for a second person we would have to raise dues. I suggested this at the last fall meeting and said that part of the raise would go to make the tournament better. It was soundly defeated. Until we have more money, no such position will ever be paid and I doubt ever created.

Talk to a high school and make a big event out of it like the SELC does with Northview HS. That's the school's main fundraiser of the year and it's a pretty cool event. They essentially handle everything and all you have to do is show up and play.

Tournament coordinator, if approved, would likely be a volunteer position. You can not be an undergrad and hold any exec board position with the exception of the at-large member. What is wrong with volunteering. It will surely take less time than some of you spend on this board complaining. I would like to encourage everyone that does not like the current state of the GRLC to step up and put your time where your mouth is. I will be resigning my position as soon as my son is born and we move West. Feel free to contact the commissioner if you would like to be appointed as Division 1 Director until the next election.

I wasn't aware that this was an official or elected position, I was under the impression that as it stands now, whichever person volunteers to take on the role, is allowed to do that if the board feels they would do a good job. I don't see the point in having "tournament director" be something to be elected; that just seems like it would become more exclusionary to people who would want to volunteer (if it can't be an undergrad or a group of mostly undergrads, I would think that would effectively elliminate 90% of the people interested in helping out.)

Aren't you doing more of this than we are? I mean you have expressed disgust. At least we are trying to come up with new ideas and solutions to the problems and questions we talk about.
TO ANYONE who wants to, or is thinking about hosting the tourney next year.....
1) There is not really an application that needs to be filled out for whoever would like to host the tourney, I mean it's pretty straight forward. At the fall meeting, if someone/team wants to host, they have to make their case for why it would be not only beneficial to the conf. but also that their team would do a good job (provide facilities etc). just food for thought, if you are thinking about hosting next year, I would contact thhe GRLC Comissioner (Brian Mosher) sometime this summer and talk to him about it, just don't wait.
2) One fear is that if a team decides to host, and they don't make playoffs, how will their hosting the tourny reflect that? Will they blow it off if they don't make the tourny?
Again I believe that if you wait until the fall meeting to bring up wanting to host, it will be too late.

As Sonny says "Reading is fundamental"....
I have stated several times in different threads that I am developing an Application Bid Packet and that it will be available early next week on GRLC.US.
