Claremont had tons of opportunities but couldn't finish.

I'm not really sure what game you were watching, but despite Whittier's low scoring production, this one was never close. Claremont could barely run an offense 6v6, or pass the ball on EMO against Whittier's pressure defense. Yes, Whittier's goalie made a few nice saves on a few transition/emo plays, but in reality Claremont never threatened in this one. While Whittier was certainly sloppy offensively and in the clearing game, there was never a time when it seemed Claremont had any chance of making it a game. To say that this one was closer than the score indicates, and that Claremont had tons of opportunities is a grosse overstatement, IMO.

Indeed. Stanford has to be the surprise team of the WCLL so far this season.

As for Northeastern, that loss has to be rather shocking for a squad that nearly reached the MCLA semi-finals last season. I have no idea if they played well and just got beat or played poorly and couldn't shake off the season opening rust. It hardly matters at this point, because now they're about to run through a tough week of WCLL opponents - at UCSB, at Chapman, and then at Cal Poly the next day. Could be a rocky season opening road trip for the Huskies.

Claremont had 37 shots which seemed like a ton of opportunities... Anyone who can hold Whittier to 7 goals deserves some credit - especially Claremont's goalie who had 11 saves.

Regardless of what Claremont's stat sheet says, I refuse to believe they took upwards of 40 shots. Claremont scored 3 goals, and I don't think Whittier's goalie recorded more than 10 saves. That accounts for 13 shots at most, and I assure you they didn't take an additional 24. No way, actually.

Nevada tore up up UNLV 17-7 on Sunday morning after beating Biola in OT on Saturday night.

The Wolfpack has never lost to UNLV and with that win goes 4-0 through two road trips to start the season.

I was looking through game reports for our league over the weekend, and Gonzaga defeated St. Mary's 14-9. . .but somehow St. Mary's still totalled 12 assists. . .

I'm pretty sure STMC did not log 12 assists. . .

If we want to be able to use statistics to measure players for season-ending awards - someone needs to look into this and get these numbers corrected.

Just my two cents. . .
