PNCLL Alumni Team - Victoria Tournament
I'd say there is enough interest that its a go.... Gus wants in... and probably 5-6 other PLU players... we even have coach.... Besides the fact that there will be a beer garden at the tourney.... I think people will make it...

Expected travel times
Just FYI for any who haven't been to the Victoria Tourney.
It's scheduled for that weekend because that following Monday is a holiday in Canada. So the events go in to the evening on Sunday as well, based on the fact that the locals don't have anything to do the next day.
The first year of the tournament I drove home after the games on Sunday because I had already taken Friday off for travelling. I took the last ferry to Anacortes and arrived home in Portland at 3am. Went to work Monday morning and was fairly worthless. Thankfully I have a desk job that allows for periods of worthlessness
So to get the best enjoyment, take Thursday - Monday off with Thursday and Monday being travel days. Friday-Sunday being for the tourney and a great time.

I just talked to Jenner, if we pay our dues by June 1st, it'll only cost 700 bucks to enter a team. and i think that's canadian. not bad, eh? ... obviously travel 'll be a lot more, but how much is it to go to Vail, and when's that tourney? just curious. steve

So, Steve -- it was reported on the Message Board that you are the new Head Coach at Loyola-Marymount. Care to shed some light on this?

I went to Vail a couple of times in high school and I remember it being like $500. That was for travel, room and board, and the tourney. I don't know how much the tourney it self was though. As far as dates go it was around the 4th of July. When we went the elite teams played before the 4th, and then there was high school, masters, and super masters after the 4th (I think). That was like 5 or 6 years ago though.

Cost Information
I have the cost information for everyone. Sorry it took so long, things have been crazy between work/coaching/being sick.
The cost is going to be $185 per person. This includes:
Rooms for Thurs, Fri. and Sat. nights, 4 guys in each room. (at the Strathcona)
Tournament fees (Fred quoted me at $500 US if it's before the early deadline).
Tank top jerseys - 1 jersey/player, yours to keep of course.
Shorts - 1 pair, also yours to keep.
Transportation, food, beer, ferry reservations, etc. are going to be your responsibility. Games start pretty early Friday morning, so we'll need to be there Thursday night.
I've spoken privately with several of you, and we've come to the consensus of limiting the team to 20 players for the sake of playing time. We would also like to field a highly competitive team, so at this point we're looking at former all-stars.
As a result, I'll be accepting applications with your checks until April 11. If we're over the limit and receive your check, I'll mail your check back to you.
Make your checks payable to:
Reed Harmon
5935 SW Seville
Lake Oswego, OR 97035
Again, checks are due April 11.
Any ideas on what to call this team?

Chris, as a high school coach, how about sharing your perspective on the great high school game you watched at the HIT in Dempsey on Saturday?

I have had a few suggestions from friends
Team Good
Team Bad
Team That's Better Than Us (and gets more chicks that we do)
I always like that one.... Who did you guys play today?
Reed, what kind of a deal did you get on jersey's and shorts? I'm sure a few of us here could also get a few good deals ourselves, possibly knock some cost down for those interested.
Oh, and if Neil doesn't play for us.... Team Neil Sucks.

Jerseys - $17
Shorts - $28
Do you think they can fit "Team that's better than us and gets more chicks than we do" on a jersey? I hope so because that's tight.
