Summer League

No word has reached me yet.

I helped him to his car, and he was in serious pain, though he was handling it well.

The word at the time was a broken bone in or near the ankle.

This is speculation, but Lara was fairly sure something was broken.

Thor plays with as much class as anyone I know, may he heal quickly and completely.

Good job Fleck, you passed my test. That was just an internal test for our team to be sure we are watching out for each other. To ensure secrecy, I was the only one that knew about it. Don't ask any other people. Now to burn time with my new Futurama DVDs.

I have never recieved an e-mail from a captain in my 3 years playing summer league. Things have worked out for the most part, but I don't think it would hurt to open those paths of communication early on in case there is a need down the road. i.e. when we were started half an hour late on that stormy day.

Justin,

How would an email have prevented the half hour late delay?

Granted, some teams do thing better than others.

Next year, consider volunteering to coordinate your teams communication.

It takes a lot of work to get 25 lacrosse players to coordinate their actions.

For Team Gamenbach, we sent out the initial communication, but after that, it's up to the players to know the schedule, and be there on time.

Thanks to Rob and Chris for another great summer league! They don't get enough credit for their incredible effort get this organized every year.

I agree. Thanks to Rob and Lars for making this so successful. And thanks to the captains for organizing the teams.

Adam--

--the beauty of ambiguous communication -- No hostility was intended by the post. Lars asked for suggestions, so I dropped one. I appreciate the team communication suggestion, though. I'll even volunteer to send out summer-league--wide e-mails in the future if anyone thinks that would be of use.

Also-the e-mail would not have prevented the half-hour delay, but may have prevented some people from coming for a half-hour wait while the last team finishes their game.

I agree, an email could have prevented some folks from wasting time.

But I don't think we knew about the delay until the 5:30 games started, so I'm not sure there was an opportunity for a mass email.

One of the ideas being considered is a communication tool for the whole process, from registeration, to draft, to the playoffs.

Rather than leave it up to the captains, which we all know leads to differing levels of service.

If time permits, we'll have something ready for next season.

when people sign up they need to be able to make most of the games. Yah i missed few and so did others but i havent honestly seen 3/4 of Young/Zevlev players since week one. Maybe if people decide that cannot show they can "sell" their spot to players who are willing/able to show up ( i know there are players out there). I think we had 8 people there for our toilet bowl game...... Maybe 6 to start out the game....... Maybe its a good thing, I could never complain about playing time!!

First of all this summer league was awesome. I had blast playing. Everyone did a great job putting together one amazing summer of lacrosse.

One thing to do is post the rosters on the website. I do think though some initiative by regular players on the team would be best. If you fail to check the website out then that is your problem. The delayed games were announced at 5:30.

Some bigger suggestions from me are moving the games from the Stardome to a city park with 2 lighted fields. Then you could play games at the more ideal times like 7,8, and 9. I don't know if there would be fields or goals available, but it is a thought. I just think it is hard to get to that location on time for the early games, and the last one seems to be late. My other thought is forcing players to pay when they initially sign up. There is no reason to not expect a check to hold a spot before the meeting.

I will say again that this was by far my favorite experience playing summer league. Thanks again to everyone involved.
