Today, things get interesting and some good teams will have their season cut short.

1. Osseo v. Breck. At Osseo.

2. Totino v. Armstrong At Moundsview 5pm

3. Moundsview v. BSM At Moundsview at 7pm.

4. Cooper v. A.V. at Cooper HS stadium 6pm.


Osseo - younger and athletic v. Senior-dominated Breck. Can Osseo defend Senn/McKeon? Can Breck defend v. Osseo's athletic offensive players? Doesn't that mean the game is in the goalies' hands?

Totino- Quietly one of the best records in the state v. Armstrong, who features Dan Foresyth (sp?), who at last report was going to SUNY -Stony Brook. Superstar v. team with many good players.

Moundsview v. BSM - Two great senior attackmen here. MV's Scott Wishart v. BSM's Mike Evans. Balance might be tipped by BSM's great face-off play and deep midfield.

Cooper v. AV. AV has some well-coached, strong and mobile defensemen that can stickhandle. And they get no accolades. Yet their ability to defend will be the key here. Av's renown attack should be able to find holes in the Cooper zone, but that will be for naught if AV doesn't defend.

Totino over Armstrong 7 -1.

BSM over MV 9-4. Mv took an early lead, spearheaded by Scott Wishart, but BSM came back fast, with Mike Evans leading the way with "alot" of points.

Horn, Good solid win tonight, MV had no chance in the second. Little scary in the first half at some moments, but it was just a matter of time before you pulled that one out. Good luck next round

Apple Valley beat Cooper 20-4 (I think, somewhere around there).

Very very one sided game.

Apple Valley was better coached and had far more skill.

Cooper had the most gillmans I'd ever seen in a lax game.

you watched a cooper game and didn't expect 100 gillmans a half? haha, we played them I think every year in playoffs my freshmen to senior year and I would imagine our goalies lost their voices yelling "gillman!" well maybe not launert because he doesn't know his left from his right much less what a gillman is.

Breck 10 Osseo 8.

I'd take Osseo to beat many other "sweet 16" teams - unfortunate that they drew Breck in this round.

Anyone think Holy Angels with Hurley and his 7 points a game is good enough to beat John Dunbar and Company at Eagan today?

1 man can be shut down, any good coach can do that. Coach Dunbar will get it done.

I agree. I think Eagan will go far. Dunbar knows his stuff.

Dunbar is a good coach, but coaches can't play the game, players do. Ryan Hurley is legit, and great players can win games on their own. Is he mature enough to do it? Maybe, thats why we play the game. Good luck to both sides!!!

Today's Games:

1. Eagan v. AHA. Much has been written about Ryan Hurley. He certainly deserves it. But maybe we also need to write about John Dunbar, Joe Page and Ryan McCartney, a trio of strong Eagan players. But as with most of the games played, the key is defense and avoiding mistakes/Penalties.

2. Blake v. B.Jefferson. Blake won the last game 14-2. Can Coach Cater fix a whole lot of things that a 14-2 score indicates? Can Coach Marotske keep his team from looking past Jefferson based upon that last game?

3. Ep. v Hastings. EP's new head coach, Jesse Schelitzche, tries to take his team to the Elite 8 for his first time as a coach, as does Hasting's new coach, Brian Jenson. Goalies make a difference at this time of year, and EP has the best one in the tournament in Dan Gnazzo. But has EP's close defense matured since their game v. AV earlier this year? That will tell the tale. And you cannot over look that the EP team has been there/done that last year. Playoff experience is valuable

4. Rochester v. Wayzata. I know little about either squad, but know that both head coaches are Mankato Mav alumni. Rochester may have a small home field advantage, but is that enough against a competition hardened Wayzata team?
