EvanFSU wrote:I am happy to announce that cooler heads have prevailed in this situation, and Coach Harkins and Coach Waesche were on the sidelines for today's 12-3 win against Illinois. I regret all of our dirty laundry going public. Below is our team's formal statement.
To Whom It May Concern,
In the past week, the elected leaders of the Florida State Lacrosse Club took it upon ourselves to write a letter to our coaches, Coach Bill Harkins and Assistant Coach Matt Waesche. As leaders of the team, we viewed ourselves as conduits for communication between the players and the coaches. The letter was intended to constructively voice criticisms concerning certain aspects of the team. Although communication between players and coaches is not inherently wrong on our team, the production of the letter was in some ways unprofessional and callow. Several sections of the letter were understandably insulting to the coaches. Concerning the fact that these men have put forth an immeasurable dedication towards the program, the letter was a shocking blow, and the coaches ‘ first thoughts were that the team did not wish them to be involved in the program any longer.
As most of you know, Coach Harkins and Coach Waesche resigned following reception of the letter. This confused and saddened many of the FSU players, many who did not know that the initial letter was sent in the first place. Predictably, the team became disarrayed and defunct. The letter’s creators did not intend to create such a disturbance amongst the team and its supporters. After emotions had cooled down, a much needed meeting between Coach Harkins, Coach Waesche and the players was held. Apologies and opinions were exchanged. The coaches agreed to come back and continue to coach and build Florida State Lacrosse
The Florida State Lacrosse Club, being a relatively young lacrosse program, has in the past been run predominantly by its players. Although it is not justified or expected, an obstacle in the road during the transition between a player-run program and a coach-run program is not totally condemnable. The leaders on the team are young men, and as our elders may remember, we unexplainably expect the world to provide us with things, rather than work for them. We still have much to learn, and we are thankful that Coach Harkins and Coach Waesche have the patience to still teach us. We apologize to the Florida State Lacrosse Community, and any others that may have felt distress over this situation. We offer our assurances that the future of Florida State Lacrosse is as bright as ever.
Sincerely,
Will Monroe

Now I understand the problem!
The players made the mistake of hiring Norm Crosby to write the letter and the poor grammer and improper use of words confused the coaches! The original intent of the letter was actually to extend their non-existant contract for 2 more years!

Food for thought. Considering the timing of this sham of a debacle in the FSU rank and file- ...something rotten in Denmark... comes to mind- in other words, this appears to have been a big publicity stunt. Check out the 3rd regular season polls. FSU is still sitting within the at-large range considering their showing in the WCLL and that loss to an unranked MN team. It doesn't hurt to pull on the ol' heart strings of the pollsters now does it and in doing so keeping FSU in the lime light and the talk of the town. People don't get to be in those high positions without knowing how to play the politics and push all the right buttons do they.
and away we go

Are you actually calling this a conspiracy to keep the Seminoles in the running for an "At Large" bid to Blaine?
When and where was the last time you bought a copy of "Catcher in the Rye?"
And as for the "showing" in the WCLL, they finished exactly where the poll rankings showed they should, 1-2 on that trip. The tough defenses were what reportedly stopped FSU in last year's championships, so they added national contenders from the WCLL to their schedule.
In the Sonoma game, they were reportedly not as prepared as they were against UCSB. Their shooters got more chances with all the EMO opportunities as well, making for a closer loss. If the 'Noles can assimilate that kind of defensive pressure to their own style, then they are more of a dangerous team. Hopefully, that was one point not lost over spring break.
The last few days were obviously hectic at best for FSU, but this whole fiasco might end up being the thing that brings them together down the stretch. With Auburn, CW Post, VA Tech, and Florida coming up, I would say better late than never.

Clearly this idea is heads and tails above anyone else in the running for that award.
It even trumps the " Isn't it convenient how opposing goalies are always looking into the sun in the 4th quarter at Provo" idea.

You ain't lying there. It took me 20 minutes to read those posts. I hope those boys can play their butts off because the future looks dim for college students who can't spell or construct sentences any better than that.

In the past I would have wrote a bunch of stuff. Now I just shake my head. I wish the very best to the coaching staff at Florida State and it's team. You guys have what it takes to have a Championship season and I wish you all well.
Why does this Club Lacrosse deal have to be so complicated!
Go Noels!

Also, NFL already stopped selling Mexico as an option to their custom jerseys online at nfl.com.
