In the past few years, we have only had to stop a game due to bad weather. We had to stop one game because the lightning was too close to the field, during the same game we also had rain and hail. Turf fields are great!

SDSU vs Chico State

Postby socallax on Tue Feb 05, 2008 1:59 am

I was at the Aztec game and it was definitely a messy game. The weather felt more like nor-cal than so-cal. Despite the weather the game got off to a quick start with a 5-4 Chico lead at the half. In the second half both teams offenses looked pretty poor with bad passes and lots of turnovers. I thought each teams goal keeper did a good job of dealing with the wet turf and made some impressive saves. Both teams had man up opportunities in the 4th quarter and neither could convert. In the end a SDSU attack man won an impressive battle with one of Chico's defenders, driving from x around left pipe he sneaked in a left handed worm burner to the far side of the goal.

I think both teams have a lot more potential than they showed in this game. Chico's defense looks very solid with three talented close defenders, athletic long pole middies and a great keeper. SDSU shows promise in that they seem have some big athletes on offense and defense. If SDSU's new coach can gets these guys to play smart they might be able to upset a few more teams.
