I just heard 14-9 UW over WWU from Dan.

Anyone here how OSU did down in Davis today?

In regards to the SOU L/C game it was a fairly sloppy afair. Though the scoreboard may not indiacte it SOU seems to be without a real go to guy, but seems to have a group of pretty solid stick handlers, as usual they were very physical which seems to be there mantra. There defense played solid allowing no settled goals, and Boggess pretty much ate up L/C's shooters. Both teams had small rosters with SOU having about 4 extra players and L/C only having three, surprisingly legs didn't seem to matter that much as SOU just played a lot smarter than L/C, no doubt thanks to there very good head coach. Good start for Southern, it'll be interesting to see how there chemistry developes as the season progresses.

An Unofficial Game:

Portland State 15 Willamette 14 in OT

This was a very hard fought game on both sides, we greatly enjoyed playing this new team that has some pretty solid players. They will be a great asset to the league if they join. Willamette held the lead for the most part of the first half and then Portland State made a run in the 3rd to go up 3 goals. Willamette came back to tie it in the final minute, but halfway through overtime #18 for Portland State scored his 7th goal of the day. Don't know his name but he made us pay.

Looking forward to our trip to California to rep the PNCLL well!!

Since I posted above in this thread about the need for everyone to be good hosts at their home games, I'm pleased to report that WWU certainly was just that. Western had a well-trained table crew, they had game programs printed up to hand out to the fans with both teams' rosters, and their coaches looked very sharp with dress shirts and ties. A fun day up in B'ham for the Vikes and Huskies, and a good game to start the 2008 season in front of hundreds of sun-drenched, full-throated fans. Good job of hosting WWU, best of luck with the rest of your season.

PS Where was "Bruce the Bear"??? First time ever up at WWU's campus when I didn't see the long-time Viking's mascot on the sidelines...

Perhaps Bruce has switched allegiances?

Rut roh!

Okay Vikings, we now know that your precious Bruce has been kidnapped and smuggled north of the border. When you launch the SWAT team rescue mission to retreive him, please don't hurt too Mr. Whitehead too badly. Remember that we Americans are not supposed to torture our enemies. But feel free to water-board Tim to get him to confess where Bruce has been stashed. Our President has implied that this method of information-extraction is not, in fact, torture at all. Have at it, but be sure to take lots of pictures of both the rescue and the water-boarding. I need a good photo of Tim in agony to use as my forum icon.

man, whats the deal with OSU? I've got a lot of buddies on the team but man, I had no idea how important last years seniors were to those guys. I figured they would have handled Davis. In an unofficial and sloppy scrimmage, the ducks ousted the beavers 19-5. Its a bummer, I know a couple of those guys over there are really committed to the team and the game. Its sad, in my opinion as an outisde observer, that they haven't gotten the support from the new guys that got their program to the PNCLL finals in 06. I root for the beavs when they're not playing us, but I just don't see their squad going to Montana for the playoffs..

Well, looks like the pre-season pollsters were wrong. How surprising.

preseason polls in the MCLA are just like preseason polls in any college sport, SUBJECT TO CHANGE. I don't think anyone should look at those with the thought in mind that, that is where teams will actually end up, personally to me it has looked like the PNCLL D-2 was gonna be a toss up since word got out about who everybody was really losing. Though the parody wont help us get an at large bid to go along with our AQ, it should make for a very interesting year, can't wait to get on the field in two weeks.

Were they wrong that SOU should be ranked in the low teens or that UPS wasn't ranked?

Making a statement like that after one single game might just be as reckless as those voters who voted so foolishly....might be.....

I'm not sure how to take it, but I know SOU wants another shot at us. It's not about the pollsters being wrong (and I chose not to apply to vote this year), they only have so much information. I thought we had a shot at beating SOU as soon as we started practices, but I wouldn't have ranked us above them. I didn't want to go around and yell we're going to start 2 new poles & have 2 new great additions on offense. Not only do I not want people gunning for us or having extra ammo to get up for the game, but you never know what's going to happen injury wise. We've still got a ton to work on & we've got to stay out of the penalty box. One of the reasons I'm so happy about this win is that we should only look better as the season goes on. It wasn't an easy game, the guys know it took heart & composure to get the win & it will hopefully set the tone for the rest of the season. If we're lucky, we can get into the polls early, but if not, no worries, we're still going to keep working on the same things.

Well, I guess I wasn't targeting the pollsters as much as the in-PNCLL hype. I sometimes confuse my terms.
