Stanford - 9
Santa Clara - 8
Both teams are much improved this year. Stanford now has the inside track to a WCLL playoff spot. Santa Clara will probably have to beat Cal Poly to get in now, absent a stumble from Stanford.
WCLL week 7. Post scores, comments, discussions here.

13-9 Cal Poly
Northeastern played amazingly hard for having a game just 20 hours earlier. The NE defense was solid and their offensive guys had good quickness and skills (#5 is really fast), but weren't too accurate on their shots.
For CP, keeper Hatfield played one of his better games of the year. Kweller had another excellent game, and freshman Rudow stood out both on face-offs and offensively.

I thought so too.
I've heard so much buzz about sdsu's "new beginnings," but was hardly impressed with what i saw. There goes sdsu's chance at validating their "new beginnings" and making it to the playoffs. It's going to be tough for Coach Holman to keep his senior-laden team motivated knowing their season is basically over. Realistically they are not going to go into Arizona and sweep both division opponents UofA and ASU. Their only shot now is an at large bid into the national tournament, which may be difficult with their mediocre schedule and some tough early season losses at home to merely "average" teams. They had their chance to shock the world with Chapman when they took them into the 4th quarter down only by 2 goals, but they blew in the last 11 minutes. Their last shot may be this weekend when the the Gauchos of UCSB come down to Montezuma Road to take on the Aztecs at home, which is of course a tall order for this team. Looking ahead at their upcoming schedule, I don't see them doing any better than one game over .500. Maybe 8-7.
