LSA Meeting 9/29/07

Postby CP18 on Thu Sep 27, 2007 8:33 am

Are teams allowed to bring as many players that want to attend? Or is their a set number?

The limit is 3 attack, 3 mids, 3 poles, a keep, and 2 coaches at the meeting. JK  Glad to see the Bearkats are up and running again!

Karl,

The cheap shot here is to recommend you go with a bagel, but I'm not going to go there. :D

Good Meeting, brief recap below:

-SFA, SHSU, Trinity, UTA admitted to LSA Division II
-St. Ed's reinstated to LSA Division II
-SMU reinstated to LSA Division I
-Oklahoma State admitted to LSA Division I North
-TCU moves up to LSA Division I North
-Texas moves down to LSA South
-New league commish named, not affiliated with any program, his name is Jason, more in this to come from Karl most likely. A big thank you to Karl Lynch for his hard work these past couple of years as the leader of the LSA. He has left a positive imprint and should be awarded with a pretty plaque that he can hang in his office

Oh, and the MCLA Mag is legit, as we all got a preview in print! Everyone needs to buy a subscription!

That is all, if messed up this summary, sorry, we will wait for the official report.

So then...

What does this mean for D-II?

Who are the teams that are going to compete next year? Will it be as one division?

Were any teams declined admission.

Thank you Karl for all the work that you put. The league took some great steps under his leadership and I thank you as an Alumnus.

LSA Div II:
Austin College
Sam Houston State
Southwestern
St. Edward's
Stephen F. Austin
Trinity
University of Texas-Arlington

All teams will play each other once. You must play six divisional league games and win your league championship to be considered for the AQ at nationals. If you wish to be considered for an at-large bid, you must play 3 out of conference divisional games, in addition to the six divisional league games.

I feel fairly certain that Karl or Jason will correct anything I have misworded.

Hello to the LSA

Postby Jason Zantjer on Mon Oct 01, 2007 1:01 pm

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Looking forward to working with you all. If you have any questions for me, feel free to contact me at jasonz@medicalcontracting.com

I have many ideas for next year's tourney at SMU and for the conference in a whole, I look forward to sharing this with you in the upcoming months. I had the opportunity last year of running the tourney with about a couple of weeks notice (THANKS KARL). However, with that experience under my belt, I know what it takes to make the tourney run smoothly and to improve from last year. My main goal is to get people in the stands and that process starts now. We should all make an effort to promote ourselves and our tournament, in Dallas and across the LSA. Anyway, that is my two cents for today, talk to you soon.

I thought D II only had to play 2 out of conference games if they want to be considered?

I would just like to say it is good to be back in the LSA!! I would also like to say thank you for everyones support at this past weekends meeting, and trusting us to get our acts together and have a great spring in the LSA 2 this upcoming year. It is also good to see that LSA 2 is getting it together with 7 teams this year and hopefully more to come in the future!! SFA is practicing 2 times a week and has about 20 team members, and also a very talented coach and alum of our school John Still, who coached at Highland Park for 5 years. We are all very excited for the A&M tourney and ready to get back in action. Goodluck to all as you prepare for the tourney and for the season. See yale in November. It also awesome to have Sam Houston State finally join the LSA, so we can continue our rivalry in lacrosse.
