Calvin 12 PLU 10

Midway through the second quarter PLU was up 5-4 when goalie Ben Resare went down with a leg injury and was taken to the hospital. We battled through the adversity to play Calvin to a close game that was back and forth all the way, but were not able to pull it out in the end. No heads were hanging at the end of the game, we played hard and fought until the final whistle.

How is Ben doing? Is he out for your last game as well? Did you put Homer in the cage? I know Homer is one of the best D-poles in the B division, but I have also seen him play goalie. . .and he is pretty darn good. . .if he was between the pipes, how did he play?

I hope Ben is OK. . .he's a great kid. Pretty tough to lose your goalie and one of the league's best middies right before your big trip to Michigan. Good luck in your last game out there.

#72 stepped in for PLU and saved all that would have been expected and more. Ben's trip to the ER did not result in an MRI, but he does have a nice thigh-to-shin brace and crutches to show for it. Kennedy is walking around in civs and looking no worse for the wear. Wish both of these guys a quick recovery.

Their 6 on the bench is not hurting much as Bethel is short with 3 themselves.

Report from the ongoing Bethel game:
5-1 PLU after the 1st
7-4 PLU at Half
10-7 PLU after the 3rd
12-7 PLU 10:00 left in the 4th

final score was PLU 13 Bethel 7. Jason, We decided to keep Homer on defense and put Marshall Hughes in for Ben Resare, and he did a great job filling in. Depending on severity, he could be out anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. I imagine you'll be hearing from him shortly.

Whitman 20
Humboldt 1

Unofficial.

It was great weather a great attitude all around. We had volunteer refs, but the game still went smoothly.

Humboldt only had 12 men traveling with them right now, 9 of whom were freshman, so they have lots of room to grow.

Gearing up for Central tomorrow!

Is it me or does the PNCLL just not travel well? during my time in the PNCLL when we traveled out of conference we always went 500. or below. never swept. this years spring break was no different. #1 team in the country oregon loses what 2 out of 3? PLU goes 1-2, our high and mighty montana who was also ranked #1 at one point this year lost 2 or 3 and western lost at least 1. my question i guess is if the PNCLL is looked at as a "strong" conference then why can't we show it on the "big stage" in OOC games. can anyone else explain this?

When you say WESTERN, do you mean WWU or WOU? WOU just got back from its first ever week of big travel. We went to Southern California and played the top 3 teams in the WCLL b-South (UC Irvine, Biola, and OXY), all three I believe were in a 3 way tie for first place. We swept the trip winning all three. UC Irvine (10-7), Biola (8-7), and OXY (11-3). So, at least the pncll can say one team swpet their OOC games, if it really means anything.

Actually, I don't think it is a travel issue, I think it is a difference in style of play. This was certainly the case in Montana this weekend.

MT vs UVSC
This was a match up that has had national implications everytime they meet, and this was no exception. However, in my opinion, there are some off the field issues effecting both teams this year. MT is definitely struggling with a personel issue, in that there are so many guys coming out, that they are using early games and fall ball to allow guys to get a chance to play and decide cuts. Zander and Townsend didn't even attend their recent trip to Oregon, and it shows in their offensive chemistry. The two of them, along with Sam Cameron are by far the best attack in the PNCLL, and will be clicking come playoffs. UVSC has a fairly short schedule, and I have to think it is affecting their chemistry as well. I have watched both of these teams over the last three years and they defintely still have many weapons to compete, but the timing and chemistry just didn't seem to be there consistently.

Interesting game stat: EMO MT - 0 for 2, UVSC 3 for 8, What was the final margin?

MSU vs WWU
This is defintly a game WWU would like to have back. My hat goes off to MSU for, what seems to be a trend for the RMLC, they just never quit. For most of the game there were a lot of loose balls and dropped passes that caused a lot of the game to be played in the neutral zone. But in the end, MSU's perserverance allowed them to get the W. No matter what is happening they just keep fighting and slowly turn the tide in their favor.

Interesting stats: Faceoffs in the second half 5-0 in favor of MSU, WWU did not control a single face-off in the second half, except for 1 or 2 that were awarded due to infraction.

EMO in the second half, WWU 0 for 0, MSU 4 for 4
