Anybody know the score of the Cal Poly-Cal game? Should be over by now.

Apparently Cal beat Cal Poly in triple OT today. Not sure of the score yet though. Anybody see the game?

ASU dominates the second half against Texas A&M. Sun Devils win 17 - 11.

Final from San Diego

UC San Diego - 4
Sonoma State - 9

I could be off by one on either score, but I'm pretty sure this was right.

Halftime score was 4-0 SSU, but UCSD looked a little better in the second half. The first half had a fair number of SSU penalties that the Tritons didn't convert- with much credit going to SSU's man down unit.

Second half the action got a bit cleaner, and was probably some of the better lacrosse I've seen UCSD play this year. Overall, it was a good game by both teams.

Wow. Cal beat Cal Poly, big setback for Poly. Does that affect the playoff picture?

Not really. What it means is that the winner of the Cal v. Stanford game probably makes the playoffs. If it is Cal, I think they win the division (assuing that they have no more division losses).

I saw the BC/UCSB game today, and Boston College deserves a lot more credit than they are getting. They should at least have a top 25 ranking. They played three consecutive games this weekend and still looked strong today. They had some quick middies and attack. And their defense had some good stick skills.
UCSB also looked solid. I know the game might not have been as good as yesterdays LMU game, but their close defense looks great. Carney, Abate, and Guzik work great together. Abate and Carney are machines, stripping their men of the ball and moving it upfield better than most middies. Guzik, though young, is heading in that direction as well. The attack is also looking great. Ryan Brent has filled the hole that was left by the departure of Shaw, and Sindell has improved immensely, overpowering most defenders. Stratton seems to hold the two together with his solid play and experience. With being ranked 10 in the nation, I wouldn't be surprised if they make it to the semi's or even farther this year.

Great job Dini. After all those close losses this season, that must feel great.

First off, I want to congratulate Coach Dini and his Cal Bears squad on their victory yesterday. As much as it pains me to say that, I know it's a big win for the Bears squad and I'm confident Coach Myers will get the Mustangs to rebound from a grueling triple OT loss.

As for how the game affects the playoff picture, Catlax Man has it basically correct except he leaves out a major caveat. Cal and Stanford will play to get into the playoffs (on their usual last weekend of the season) only if Cal Poly beats Stanford the week before. If Stanford beats CP then they will already be in (and CP likely out), so the Stanford game essentially becomes a must win scenario for CP. The Cal Poly vs Stanford game is in SLO, and the Stanford vs Cal game looks to be in Palo Alto. Those two games will essentially decide who gets into the playoffs from the WCLL Central Division.
