SELC Week 9: 3/29 - 4/4 (Discuss Games/Report Scores)

spoiled?

Postby NinerCoach on Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:30 am

I won't respond to the rest of your little post there...

...but UNCC is hardly spoiled. The school covers our league dues. The rest of the money comes from my kids paying dues out of their pockets and hustling to raise money. We can pay 2,000 to take a weekend road trip because my guys work hard to make sure they can do that, please don't call them spoiled because that is so not even close to the truth.

Please stop bad mouthing entire programs because games were canceled. The proper procedure is (and has always been) to try to get the game rescheduled by emailing the other teams privately. If it is a mandatory game (as I believe this one is) if an agreement can't be reached contact me and I will do my best to find a mutually agreeable (if not agreeable then possible) time that the two teams will play. Arguing and insulting on a bulliten board does no good for you guys as a team, your programs, colleges, or the SELC.

Basically, stop the public airing of greivances. A little understanding would go a long way.

My email is Kevin[@]SELC.org.

You had to agree to cancel the game when the refs called you that morning. Steps could have been taken to clear the field. I'm from CT, when you're from up north you have the opinion that 4 inches of snow shouldn't stop anything, short of going to the beach. When i heard that one of our players parents went to the field that afternoon and the "snow" didn't even come to the top of the blades of grass I get a little upset about dropping $2000 of my guys hard earned money on a trip to nowhere. The fact that you were IN TOWN 25 minutes from our campus 5 days later, and didn't even think to try and get the game in adds to my frustrations.

Don't call us spoiled either, 4 guys, including myself have been working our butts off bringing this program back to respectability over the last 3 years. My first year as treasurer we got ZERO from our school, we made it work somehow, and even managed to fund a trip to play you guys and liberty. I work hard for my team. Its not my problem if you don't handle your financing better, and have other priorities that limit your scheduling abilities.

I'll be waiting to hear from you guys to let me know when your coming back to Charlotte to make up the game. The season is over pretty soon.

I see on the Home Page recent scores that Ga Tech beat "they-who-shall-remain-nameless" 11 - 3. Was it that embarassing? :)

It was MIT (NCAA Div 3) yesterday afternoon (Thursday). We are still trying to resolve the issue with listing of NCAA schools on the USLIA.com schedule.

It was actually the totals of how many girls attend the respective schools...we have 11 at GT...whereas MIT has 3. We win!

Very hard fought game on a hot and dusty night. The score was kept close by both teams with great ball movement, hard hitting, and great hustle. Good game to the Dawgs and good luck to them on the rest of their season

How can a team miss a game that is two days away?

P.S. Only conferences can award forfeits. Check the current NCAA rule book. There is a lengthy paragraph about this topic (forfeits vs. no contests).

SCAD @ UNCC

Postby NinerCoach on Sat Apr 01, 2006 4:25 pm

SCAD 13 - UNC Charlotte 10

SCAD got off to a hot start with a 3-0 lead, but Charlotte battled back to a two goal lead in the third quarter. However, SCAD toughed it out and pulled it off at the end.

Tip of the hat to their Goalie who played much of the second half with a nasty injury to his hand. He was in visible pain and still put on an amazing show.

Notable stat line for UNC Charlotte:
John Metcalfe - 4 goals 3 assists
Coline Wauchope - 4 goals
GT Hobday - 1 goal 3 assists

NCS v UCF

Postby IceBerg4586 on Sat Apr 01, 2006 5:22 pm

The game was a hard fought battle all the way through. NCS was up 5-0 at the end of 1, but UCF came storming back to lead at half 7-6. UCF kept the pressure on by scoring 5 more in the 3rd to make the score 12-9 after 3. NCS fought back to tie the game up 12-12 with about 5 min left. NCS took the lead with about 2 to go, but Bobby King from UCF scored with about 1.15 left in the game. game went into OT 13-13, and tempers got the best of the player in 1 OT with a fight almost breaking out. The pressure was mounting on each possesion. The game went into 2 OT, and UCF scored with about 2 minutes left, just to get denied by a bogus in the crease call. NCS brought the ball back down to get stopped by UCF's D, then UCF got stopped and as NCS brought the ball down they scored from an outside shot just inside the box.

The game was brutal on both sides. Several players were hurt because of huge hits. Overall it was one of the better game to see this year in the SELC. Congrats to NCS on a great win
