Is anyone at, or have a connection with anyone who is at, the BYU - Whittier game?

Thanks -- I was planning to go, but then several crises came up at work (oh yeah, that thing which I'm supposed to be spending my time at...). Sure would be good to know what's up...

They posted scores within 2-3 hours on the byulacrosse.com site after the UCSB and Poly games, but nothing so far.

I understand that it was 3-3 at the half, then the wheels sort of fell off for the Cougs.

A later post had it at 13-4, but either way, not the trip the Cougs had hoped for...

Ouch, but it was a D3 team. The Cougs can salvage this trip with a win over Michigan. We shall see.

Here's a report found on another forum:

Tale of two halves at Whittier this afternoon and early evening. Score was tied 3 - 3 at half. Final: Whittier 13, BYU 4.

The first half looked like the Poets' first half of game play this season. Fundamentals were weak and the offense was not in synch. Defense was strong, holding the Cougars to but three goals. The Whittier D was able to keep them off the board in NUMEROUS man-down situations, including a minute-long 6 on 4 EMO.

Second half saw the Poets attack assert itself against the BYU close D. Strong multiple-goal efforts by Gerbarg, Prickett, and the young Canadian Lackey. The Cougars had some real problems with their slides, and never really seemed to solve those difficulties throughout the second half. Also, the accuracy and frequency of the Whittier passing and shooting improved remarkably over that in the first half. Poets' team defense squelched the BYU offense in the second half, holding them to a single third quarter tally. Chenoweth started in the cage and left with three minutes to go in the game. Ben Brown replaced him and almost immediately after entering the game, he made a great one-on-one stuff to keep the score at 13-4.

Good outing for the Poets. Defense looked good and the offense will hopefully continue to "gel" as they get more experience under their belts.
