Just looking for the same thing. I'm not getting in-game updates, but I'm hoping to get a report on the score after the game has concluded.

UCSB over Cal Poly tonight by a score of something like 10-2. Final score is not official but should be pretty close. Play on both sides was kind of sloppy. Poly did not show much offensively.

Interesting range for a score between these two teams. Tough to play on a Thursday night though, and it is early in the season. Makes sense that defenses might be a bit ahead of offenses.
Thanks for the post.

9-2 UCSB. Primary opponent was the officials. 14 penalties against UCSB. It is interesting that this only happens in the Santa Barbara/SLO area. When Santa Barbara travels to SD or the Bay Area they usually get somewhere around 3-5 penalties. The huge penalty games occur near Santa Barbara and always involve the same official. It is a shame because it interupts the flow of the game and impacts the spectator's enjoyment of the game.
Gaucho scoring was spread around the usual players. Unofficial scoring: Wilson had 2, Patton 2, Eric Johnson 2, Isaksen, Shaw and Schooler had goals.

Maybe G-Unit was one of the officials. Or just could tell that SB was going to have one of those nights. Either way, good call G-Unit.

While it's obvious where my allegiances lie, one thing I really like about Santa Barbara is their ability to spread the scoring around. Except for Patton's five goal outburst earlier, you rarely see them scoring more than one or two goals a piece. Who do you cover when seven guys can get you three points? This is a good problem to have for Coach Allen.

UCSB vs. Poly
I attended the UCSB vs. Cal Poly game last night and thought I might share a few observations. UCSB IS really that good. Skill level, poise and patience were clearly superior. They came ready to play and took it to Poly from the opening whistle. Despite even being a Cal Poly alum, I have to admit that nearly EVERY single call went Poly's way....to the point where everyone on the sidelines was laughing as soon as the whistle blew. I've attended two games thus far this season, and have been severely disappointed by the quality of refs. This one was no different.
Brittain didn't face a ton of shots, but was stellar on those he did. Will Patton was as good as he is billed to be.
Was looking forward to seeing a top caliber, classy team in UCSB. They were definitely top caliber. They may be the class of the league and even the country, but in general lacked class. Up by 7 with just minutes remaing, I saw cheap shots, and attitude far below what would be expected from such a prestigious club. It was sad to see.

I was not at this game, but was this observation based on the last few minutes of the game or the entire game? If based on the last few minutes, was it possibly attributable to less experienced guys on the field who may have lost their poise?

Surely, Cal Poly players have never resorted to such tactics! I don't condone such behavior either, but I find it odd that this comment is coming from an alumnus of Cal Poly. Things are bound to get chippy at end of games between bitter rivals, however that should not be tolerated no matter what the score.

This is exactly what I was talking about. There is one referee from Santa Barbara who officiates every UCSB home game and apparently some at Cal Poly too.
This guy flags and whistles everything (particularly against UCSB). It is just plain no fun to watch regardless of which team you support.
I drive down to Santa Barbara from the Bay Area to watch some games. This year, I have decided not to attend if the offending official is officiating. He has been a joke for years now. It is time to replace this whistle happy dude who tries to grab all the attention to himself. I want to watch lacrosse not whistle blowing and flag throwing 101. Everyone knows this guy's name but I have refrained from stating it here for reasons that I don't understand. He does not deserve protection.
In general California has the best officials in the MDIA. The referees in Northern California last weekend did a great job of officiating UCSB games. The guys who consistantly do not make the grade should be replaced, even if it entails bringing officials from LA, SD or the Bay Area to SB or SLO.

Weird that this guy seems to have an anti-home team bias. I think one of the hardest things about being an official has to be managing a game rather than making yourself a part of it. The best referees are the ones you don't even notice are on the field. That's not to say they don't make calls, but you usually don't know the good ones' names, if you know what I mean.
Back to the games, curious if anyone at the game has any info on Poly. How are they faring without Casey? It appears they are going to have some trouble putting points on the board and could be in for a season of nail biters.

This is second hand information, but from what I have heard from players & people who have seen Poly play this year, they are not as good as last year's team, which just eked out a spot into the tourney as an at-large. It is early in the season yet and it could very well be that they need some more time to develop. Time will tell.
I sense that there could be a changing of the guard in (what I would call) the "second tier" WCLL teams (below SB & SSU). We should find out something this weekend about one of the teams that I suspect will step up and that is UCSD. They were on the verge of breaking through last year and meeting Chapman should be a good indicator for that team.

The Pepperdine @ Claremont game set for Sat Feb 12 is being postponed due to poor field conditions with all the rain...

This guys makes calls that occur right in front of his partners who do not make the call. He makes calls from all the way across the field. He shows up his partners and gets into it with fans.
You can't help but notice this guy and I for one have had it. I hate watching games that he officiates. I would like to know what I can officially do as a fan to remove this guy from the WCLL officiating list. Is there a place for fan input on officials?
