UCSB vs. Chapman:
After one 0-0; halftime 4-4; after three 6-6; 3 min. left UCSB 9-8; 22 seconds left UCSB called for illegal screen. Chapman tied game with a goal from an unguarded man on the crease; end of regulation, 9-9. Overtime. Chapman goalie stuffed UCSB middie, George Granelli, one on one, on the crease. Double overtime! Game getting sloppy. Both sides are exhausted. Freshman, Jack Miller from Menlo School, scored the game winner for UCSB in the waning moments of double over time, on a drive from X. Chapman called for stick check. The stick was legal.
Final score: 10-9 UCSB.
Chapman is for real. Michael Farinelli, freshman from La Costa Cyn. H.S., was particularly impressive for Chapman. A large group of Chapman fans made the trip to Santa Barbara.
Both team rosters are loaded with freshmen. UCSB has 15 and Chapman has 14. These teams may be headed for this kind of showdown for the next few years.
This game was extremely important. The winner, if they get by UCLA, USC, and LMU, will get a WCLL first round home playoff game against the #2 team from the WCLL south. The loser, if they also get by the other LA division opponents, will have to go on the road to face the #1 team from the south in the first round of the WCLL playoffs, possibly UCSD.

These aren't official, only what I'm told. I also hear that UCLA had a very promising looking faceoff man, winning the majority of their bouts. Two longstick goals from #40 on UCLA.

I also understand that there was some relatively strong fan support at this game.

Very interesting score from SB. Looks like they will win their division in the WCLL, as I am assuming that SB should be able to get by LMU, USC & UCLA.

However, their upcoming schedule is Cal Poly, BYU, Colorado St., LMU, Michigan, UCSD, Sonoma, Colorado & Arizona in that order. Other than perhaps LMU, there isn't a game there that one could say that a win is a given at this point. That is a murderous schedule and it is conceivable that SB could lose 4 or more of those games. At least they are not trying to tiptoe around teams to build a good record - they will have to earn it. I am very curious to see how this plays out.

Sounds like a very exciting game in SB, I guess Chapman's recruiting class is in fact as legit as it looked when they posted it.

I was also surprised by the UCLA @ UCSD score. SD is VERY good and I thought they would have taken UCLA by more. The WCLL-LA conference has always been pretty competitive, but with what looks like two elite teams in UCSB and Chapman, plus ever improving USC and UCLA (who both were competitive with two other top USLIA teams in Cal Poly and UCSD respectively), this conference is probably one of the more copetitive ones in the USLIA.

Cal Poly vs. USC was a hard nose battle, big hits, ugly checks, lots of penalties, which accounts for the six goals for USC on man-up and numerous for Poly. The referees got whistle happy about the hits but all-in-all a good fight with USC playing til the end.

I was just going to say the same thing. Once the goal is scored, the game is over. It does not matter if his stick is leagal or not. Would have been interesting to hear what would have happened if they had found his stick to be illegal.

Yes, Stanford beat Oregon State by 2. Oregon did not play Oregon State this weekend.
