A&M tournament

Postby CP18 on Wed Nov 02, 2005 12:45 pm

It's interesting that you say the competition in the college bracket leaves something to be desired, when these are teams that A&M plays during the regular season. Last that I remember A&M didn't win the conference in the last two years.

Please read more carefully,

Up until recently the (the last three years) the quality of teams in the College bracket left something to be desired competition wise

Before three years ago, A&M was dominating the LSA's with the only close games being Texas, a team that did not play in the Fall Tournament for four years, with this year being their first year coming back to play.

Tournament Bracket

Postby ACE on Wed Nov 02, 2005 2:51 pm

Mens
Dallas v San Antonio
Southswell v Southlake
Team Viva v Coppell
Texas A&M v ??? (Capital Crossfire dropped out today)

College A
Texas Tech v Houston
North Texas v Houston Select
Texas A v Kansas State
Texas State v Baylor

College B
Oklahoma State v Austin College
Texas B v Texas-Arlington
Southwestern v Stephen F. Austin
Trinity v St. Edward's

They are 8 team brackets, I assume everyone can figure out who would play who without posting the entire thing. i.e. Winner Dallas-San Antonio plays Winner Southswell-Southlake.

I wasn't in the slightest bit upset. I just found what I thought he said interesting, considering A&M hadn't won in the last couple of years. That's all. I'm sorry if my posts seem angry.

BTW, my bad for not reading as close as I should have. I tend to do that sometimes.

Wait, and so we're only playing three games? Looking at the Brackets it's apparent that after the first game the winning team will already be in the semi finals.

What do you want to do JosueSays... play a round robin on saturday (3 games, 2 brackets) and then have semi's and finals on sunday. Too many games in a short amount of time.

Most tournaments only guarantee three games so why is it hard to believe that three wins in a row gets you the tourney championship. The reason for just three is that having two games in one day is hard enough. In addition, on Sunday, most teams must travel back to their respective cities. So this leaves very little time on sunday to play games and most teams don't want to play back to back. So three games broken down over two days is the best option.

Just a curious question for you, JosueSays.

First of all, I have not been at any of the A&M fall tourneys due to prior commitments. Anyway, JosueSays, have you been to the A&M tournament? tamu33, CP18, LaxC21, et al. will attest to the fact that playing the tournament in 2 days is the best option. It has been my experience from reading so many posts that most tourneys guarantee 3 games, and I am sure you will get the idea of the beauty of how the tourney works.

On the other hand, I have always say this as others know... play safe, play fair and just have fun on the field.

Having played in four previous A&M tournaments, I always felt that the tournament ran well. The Guys at A&M make it really easy for you. All you have to do is show up and play. I could see how more people would want to play more games, however, i find it difficult to see how you could schedule more games. Friday night guys are traveling in, teams Like Tech, Kansas, and Oklahoma State have a lot longer drive to be there, it is unrealistic to ask them to play games at 3 pm sunday afternoon or at 6 pm on Friday night. I think they run it ver well.

Good luck this weekend and everyone drive safely.

What are you trying to say about my mom the tea. Leave her out of this. My mom is a saint. I did count to 10 last time. In those 10 seconds that i was counting to myself i relized how important fall ball is to not only the LSA, but to the whole USLIA. It really hurts for someone to say that fall ball isnt important.

The only reason I was surprised about the three games was that I was told for a while now that if we won all of our games, we played a fourth game(the championship). And yes, this will be my first time to go to A&M's College tournament.

Just know that you are guaranteed to get rain one of the two days of any A&M tournament, fall and spring. Hope the spell will be broken!
