UNH & BC's Poll Rankings

Anyone know where the UNH FOGO played H.S. ball? Also, are they using him strictly for FOGO, or does he see some action in the field?

How does the UNH attack look these days?

The UNH attack was pretty good. I can't say they were the strength of the team, but they did a great job in the transition game. The long poles were really fast and had quick hands. They beat us inbetween the boxes and the attack was really effective in clearing defensmen out of the way so the breaking pole could actually set up some offense as well.

The UNH "FOGO" is from Westchester County in NY. He played for Lakeland/Panas which is a ligit upper Westchester program. Dahl does see action on the field besides faceoffs.

My school (stony brook, long island) actually went up and played lakeland during the 2003 lacrosse season, do you know if he was their faceoff man then too?

I grew up in Westchester and when I was in high school about 13 years ago, Lakeland/Panas was one of NY's best programs. I believe standout Syracuse player Ric Beardsley went to school there. Haven't been able to see too many high school games in that area, but I used to love watching teams like Yorktown and Lakeland go at it.

The Yorktown vs. L/P games are great games ever year when they play for the Murhpy Cup. If Dahl is a Sophmore now that means he graduated in 2003 . Lakeland sent Sean Lindsay to Cuse 5 years ago and he turned out to be a stand out there.

Yea, they were a great team when we went out there to play them. They beat us by a few goals. Was trying trying to find out if he was the same face off middie they had when we played them. It is entirely possible.

Dahl

Dahl was definitely the faceoff middie for L/P in 2003

Cool...I remember his faceoffs then- We had a great face off middie that year and he made things very difficult for our guy who usually won upwards of 90% every game.

I think that the UNH Attack is actually better then you give them credit here. Boyce has 34 goals and 19 assists. He is leading the PCLL in points as of right now. Churchill has 22 goals and 16 assists and Foss has 18 goals and 12 assists. As you can see none of these attackmen are the weakness of the team. With that said though, it is hard to identify UNH's weakness. They have 3 solid lines of middies and all three of their defensemen can mark up against any attackmen in the PCLL, if not the country, and look good. Not to mention that they are able to keep fresh legs on the defense with a solid second line subing in. I would be interested in hearing what people think UNH's weaknesses are.

I actually can't wait to see the results if BC and UNH meet again, I think its gonna be another great game. I do not know if UNH had any missing key players for the game but BC was missing Chris McCann (leading scoring midfielder) due to a job interview and John Montana due to an hamstring injury(starting attackman, captain). They are both very good players but I do not know if they would have changed the outcome. Will be interesting, BC gets montana back this week and McCann is back.

I agree with TMcCourt. BC was missing two influential players, however UNH is a very strong team with an outstanding attack line and a midfield that can run an extremely stong transition game. both teams, i assume will finish their PCLL league play in high standards and will put forth a great show in the PCLL playoffs. i look forward to seeing a potential BC v. UNH championship game. However, Northeastern, BSC, or Stonehill could very well make a run in the PCLL playoffs. As far as I have seen... the PCLL is up for grabs.

I think Beardsley went to Yorktown. If I recall correctly, a friend of mine from Scarsdale told me that Beardsley had 2/1 in their game against Yorktown his senior year.

I'll never forget being at the finals @ Penn the first year that Princeton won the national championship. Double overtime, etc. Mostly, I remember Beardsley running down the right side of the field with his stick (and ball) in his left hand. A couple of times during his run, he looked up to the stands on the right (where we were) and gave us a couple of points/fist pumps. It was classic.

Beardsley did not go to Yorktown, he definitely went to Lakeland.

Lakeland/Panas

Postby Has No Left on Mon Apr 18, 2005 12:57 pm

The Lakeland/Panas lacrosse team was one of the biggest mistakes ever made by the NYSPHSAA. Lakeland High School, which is a 5A enrollment, started their lacrosse program in 1975. Walter Panas High School is located near the Cortlandt Manor school in Scrub Oak and they are in the same school district. Walter Panas dominated Section One 3A in the '70's and had a program many years before Lakeland.

Lakeland's program never florished through the late '70 and early 80's and they continued to lose to lesser programs such as Roosevelt of Yonkers, White Plains and Mamarenack. Then someone had the bright idea of combining the schools for boy's lacrosse; that was over 25 years ago and I don't know if it's been challenged since!
