MDIA player of the year
Just to present some real life examples.
The MDIA preseason player of the year last year was a specialist from CSU.
The watch list for the NCAAs highest award for individual play always includes players from every position.
I think you can have an MVP from any position any given year. It really depends on the play on the field and oddly who sees and reports it. This message board, scouting reports, game reports, stat reports, etc. are really important for all of us to participate in each week so that teams with a player that is having a great year can get some recognition leaguewide and nationwide.
So far this year, I have seen one specialist, one goalie, several attackmen, and several midfielders that could be the MVP.

FOGOs
Of course I am incredibly biased, but I think face off specialists a.k.a. FOGOs are just as valuable as any player on the field. That is, if you have a dominant one. A guy that wins every single face off, especially in a high scoring game is clutch. You look at a box score where face off stats are included (although they rarely are), and you will see that teams that dominate face offs rarely lose. It's pretty simple. Possession is obviously key.

Wow thats really specific, and the reason the other thread got closed up.
I also agree with Arich12, if you have a FOGO who can win every faceoff, and gain control of the ball until the offense gets set up it becomes really easy to get in a rhythm and put up some big numbers very quickly.

Specialist
The specialist that I have in mind is a long pole midfielder.
