Games for 4/6 - 4/12 Predict, Discuss, Report Scores here

NU's defense was only in regards to people comparing the D to the offense.

I stand corrected and look forward to the game.

Since Michigan has the Oosterbaan fieldhouse to play in, perhaps you can be part of next year's Michigan Invitational? Last year they had CSU, UCSB and Duluth. This year Oregon, Florida and Colorado. I think some representation from a strong PCLL team is warranted for '06!
Just a thought....

Rad44 wrote:I would say that UNH is no where near as good as last year, mainly due to the fact that they graduated some really solid players and that they are under a new coaching staff, although I am not certain how that is playing out. They were not strong at all in Texas, almost losing to two unranked Texas teams, and lost to Cal, who by all accounts, is miserable. Give UNH credit though for making the trip and winning. Its tough with limited practice and comming to play teams who have all winter to practice.

Be careful with a statement like that. UNH may have lost a game to a team CATLAX MAN says is weak, but you know the saying, "every dog has its day." UNH is still a potential upset.

Rad44 wrote:Northeastern looks like a solid offensive team. Although I have not seen them play this year, I have heard their defense is their weakness, though with an offense like that, who knows. Its great to see them emerging, especially nationally. I think we might see NU in a poll in the next month, and not UNH.

NE's goaltending alone makes them a strong defensive team. I do think they will crack the poll by season's end if they continue to win.

Rad44 wrote:The PCLL is growing up fast and its great! Its so tiring to hear about the WCLL, CSU, Michigan, etc. BC is good enough to compete and beat teams ranked 6+ and who knows beyond that. Like every PCLL team, everyone is limited by weather and lack of practice. Given the depth and talent on BC this year, it is not out of the question to consider the fact that they are better than everyone thinks and could actually beat a Michigan.

Whoa now! I am a big supporter of the PCLL, but I have also spent years watching Michigan, UCSB, Sonoma, Colorado St, and BYU wreck teams throughout the tournament. We still have a good ways to go to reach that level, if we even can. Those programs are more then just talent. They have school support, excellent coaching, take numerous trips throughout the year, and their players eat and breathe lacrosse in a way we are still just getting used to. Those programs are as close to varsity as the MDIA has, and in some cases, operate better than varsity.

As for the schools just under those big guns, well, they don't have the same consistancy on the field and they are beatable. Last season I thought Colorado looked great one game and not up to their potential the next. Same with Arizona. I do think BC can play and beat these teams, but the proof is in the pudding. The PCLL won't be able to back up these claims until they win in the first round. That would be a success for us this season. Second round win would really open eyes.

The PCLL is growing, but unless we consistantly place a couple of teams into the Top 25, no one is going to travel out here for just one game. We need the Northeasterns, UNHs and Bridgewaters to secure wins against quality programs and get into the polls before we will see returns down the road.

BC - 13
WPI - 6

WPI was finally able to cut down on penalties. I'm not sure how many we had, but it couldn't have been more than 5 or 6. Again, I don't have the book so I can't give a very detailed update, but it was a good physical game, and BC just made more of their opportunities than WPI did. That BC attack line is killer, and so is the face-off unit. I would like to see the face-off numbers though, because I think we held our own, even though I didn't really expect to.

Good game BC.

Rad44 and BC players,

Listen to Dan Morris. He knows what he's talking about. You can't take UNH for granted. Even though they're not dominating this year as compared to others, they are a very respectable program. They always step up their level up play and are the only team in the PCLL to beat BC since becoming full members in the league (luckily only in the regular season). Be ready to play on Friday, cause they will.
Good luck.

Andy Janos as I live and breathe! You are in Pittsburgh? I hear that is one depressing city these days, three of my roomates are from there. Hope all is well with you. Keep these BC guys focused with their eyes on the prize. They have a very strong team...as long as they don't let the hype go to their heads!

We do have a strong and confident team. Having confidence in your own and your teammates abiilities is important in any team sport. But don't think that we don't remind ourselves everyday that we have yet to beat UNH in the regular season.

With probably the toughest weekend (UNH and Pittsburgh back to back) on our schedule coming up we are certainly focused.

Good attitude. Never underestimate UNH, but also make sure you look over the shoulder to see Northeastern and Bridgewater salivating for their shot as well. You are right, big weekend this week. Keep those guys sober until you get through Tuesday! Good luck!

Sober- Dan??!!

WPI:

Good game. BC wasn't able to get a ton of shots on net and not at a level that they should perform at, but much of that is due to WPI being ready and very agressive on the middies. Not a bad team and physically tough. WPI was great on faceoffs (BC forte) and broke up the transition game. Good game and more proof that the PCLL as a whole is getting deeper.

Definately a confident team- but cerftainly warrented within the league. There is never a moment of ease though, UNH is always a concern and now NU is really cutting the gap.

Just to clarify...Russo graduated in 2002. The last two years Burke was starting between the bars. He actually suprised a lot of people, including teammates, with his 2003 performance...taking home PCLL Defensive Player of the Year. Also, McConaty didn't win Offensive Player of the Year in 2003, that was Matt Lau from BU. Rad44, man, you should take it easy on calling teams weak. Don't forget that BC has been a favorite the last couple years. But UNH has taken them 2 of 4 meetings and actually has had the #1 seed in the last two PCLL championships. Either way, I'm sure tomorrows game will be a pretty sweet match up. Possibly another preview to the championship.
Also, just want to say congrats to all the teams in the PCLL. It is awesome watching the league grow, and it's pretty money seeing you fellas beating some solid out of conference teams. Looks like a lot couple teams could pull off the upset this year, and maybe we can get two teams out to nationals. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Jesus, how can I forget these things? Lau was my player that year and I was so proud of his performance. And I voted for Burke last season as Defensive Player of the Year in goal for UNH!

Maybe I'm not as lucid as I think I am. The years just bleed together after a while... I really need to drink more. I was sharper then.

But my points are the same even if the facts were slightly off. UNH doesn't have the goaltending this season they have been blessed with in the past. And even though MCConaty didn't win Offensive Player of the Year, he was damn close and having him return to play alongside Kinsella (last years OPY), that is a truly deadly combo.

Man I hated playing against him, I was always getting calls for high hits b/c he was so small. Quick little bugger too.
