Let's hope it's half as thrilling as your avatar.

Do they use capital letters in your profession, or is that a big no-no in logo design?

How did Mike Stone take 1st team for D2? Gavinski and Beougher are both far better keepers. It's sad that politics take such a huge role in things like this. Things like statistics and real performance are overshadowed by personal influence. Forgive me for sounding like a prick, but come on.

You guys have to remember how risque and edgy that kind of humor is in the Beehive State . . . The underground goth culture in SLC approves, cowbell.

everyone is just so sassy! onpoint, i didn't come up with the name for our summer league team, but yes, i did come up with our joke of a logo in about an hour last summer. no, it's not terribly funny by itself—especially outside of utah. it's funny because nobody here knows what it is.

dinosaur, trying to tie in my lack of using capital letters to your assumption that i'm a poor graphic designer is dumb.

on why the logo is terrible:

a logo should differentiate the brand that it stands for from the rest of the pack. it should be simple and to the point. this logo does neither. it looks like any $49 clip art logo you could buy from one of those websites you always see in google ads. that is not a good thing.

why does it need both a lacrosse stick AND some mountains illustrated and shoved down your throat like that? there should be a hierarchy of communication with any logo. personally, i believe that the geographical aspect should be main area of examination. it is what differentiates the rmlc from the rest of the nation, is it not? could you find a different way to emphasize the "rocky mountains" than just throwing some jagged edges up top?

i'm fine with the typeface used. nowadays, you pretty much have to use some sort of rounded yet blocky sans serif for any sports related logos. it's unfortunately what everyone does and is used to now, and most likely wouldn't get client-approved if they weren't used. the type beneath is not good though. there is too much information crammed into too tiny a space. the leading is too tight as well. they should just get rid of it or at least have a version of the logo without it. i also am fine with the colors. they're a little bland and run of the mill, but they don't necessarily hurt the logo.

when designing a logo, you should consider all the different mediums that the logo is going to be produced on. the more simple a logo is, the better it is going to translate to all media, such as embroidery or web, or print. it should be able to communicate clearly and equally on anything it is on. this logo, with its double outline and tiny type beneath, is not going to look too hot screen printed or embroidered on a pair of shorts.

i'm glad there's a new logo. it's better than the last, but it could be much better. this one just reminds me of something that a freshman in college cooked it up while taking some computer graphics class he or she needed to take to fulfill some required gen-ed.

Cowbell,

Would you be willing to do another mockup for RMLC use?

I would be willing. You'd have to give me a couple weeks--I'm a bit busy, but I'd be more than glad to come up with a mock up or two.

Go for it. I have no experience in graphic design and IMO it would be very cool to see what you could come up with.

Had nothing to do with your skills as a graphic designer, just your lack of ability to hit a shift key every once in a while.

I anxiously await your attempt.

At least the Bearded Clams is a little classier than the Blumpkins.

By the same token, couldn't you also say that the lacrosse aspect is what separates the RMLC from every other organization in the given geographical area. I would venture to say that the fact that it is a lacrosse conference, on a general population scale, is more unique than the fact that it resides in the Rocky Mountains.

I think one without the other and you have an incomplete logo, for the intended purpose. I would agree with you that the lacrosse sticks, or any reference to lacrosse, would be unnecessary if the logo was being designed for a conference that wasn't exclusively lacrosse (ACC, Big Ten, ect).

I like the logo, and I enjoyed the Conference tourney t-shirt design as well. Good word Dave and Company.

sensing a little sarcastic hostility. no need. my bad if i've taken the shift thing a little too far.

we can converse without using sarcasm and backlashing. i think.
