Cal State Fullerton had an upset in their grasps against #23 Pepperdine and they let it slip. They dictated the first half and led 7-3 in the second then after a quick goal by pepperdine 7-4 at the half. Fullerton shot themselves in the foot in the second half with penalties and Pepperdine took full advantage of it. The game ended at 13-9. Fullerton was missing key players incl. their starting FOS/Middie and defenders due to illness/school. It makes me very curious as to why pepperdine is ranked #23 in the DII poll. These teams played on the same level today. Both teams face #18 Western Oregon in the next week which should give a different perspective on the rankings.

Well I can't say I know a whole lot about Poly but their only losses are to some top teams and it looks like they were in all of those games. I played a game down there a couple years ago and they were tough, beat us when we were in the top 5. SFU at 11 could be top ten as well, I think their trip coming up will let us know.
I'm not saying all those teams should be voted in the top ten next poll, I'm saying they all could be in there with the amount talent and they should get in there and represent the whole West Coast (San Diego to BC)

Will someone please explain to me what Simon Fraser has done that is so special that they should be in the top 10? I'm just not seeing it.

same for UMD. Does anyone else realize that they have only beaten one top 10 team (Poly in '07) in the past couple years?! correct me if I'm wrong...

It's because the MCLA is a feel-good league. Do you ever look at the all-america teams? Jimmy Bob Stevens from Arkansas State scores 100 goals and has 86 assists in his crap league and gets the nod over a player from UCSB, SSU, CSU, etc. because we need to make everybody happy. If UMD and these other teams didn't get love in the polls, everybody would be up in arms.
"Thank you, your Holiness. Awesome speech."

Fullerton controlled the ball and actually took shots the first half. when they settled the ball they made the defense make mistakes and took good shots. Pepperdine's defense wasnt doing well with unsettled situations. I think Fullerton beat themselves the second half.

I don't know that I'd put them in the top 10 right now, but they are right there. From Zamboni's information...

T25 L: #2 Colorado State (7-9), #7 Michigan (9-12)
8. Arizona State (5 - 2) [2/2/0]
L.....#1 BYU..............................15-17
W.....Texas Tech.......................17-10
T25 W: #22 Cal Poly (10-9), #25 Utah (22-8)
T25 L: #8 Michigan (8-11)
10. Colorado (1 - 0) [1/0/0]
CANCELLED - #12 Florida State
T25 W: #24 Texas (10-6)
T25 L:
11. Simon Fraser (6 - 1) [2/1/0]
IDLE
T25 W:#14 Lindenwood (13-5), #18 Texas A&M (10-7)
T25 L: #1 BYU (11-17)
If you just look at wins and losses, I don't see why SFU couldn't be in the top 10. The difference between them and ASU is that ASU played BYU closer. But SFU has beaten higher ranked teams than both ASU and Colorado.
My personal opinion is that ASU and Colorado are better, but that's just my opinion. We're going to know a lot more in the next 2 weeks for sure.
