PNCLL 2008 All-Conference

Postby Scrape Mode on Sun May 04, 2008 3:05 pm

why are there 4 players for each position on the 1st Team selection. Are we trying to make this a feel good league or what?!?! I could understand if there were 4 guys deserving and no rhyme or reason could determine who was to be left off, but if you're going to raise the number to 4 then why not 5, or 6....

maybe motivational speaker Tony Robbins is now running the PNCLL awards system

hope D1 is a little less liberal with award allocation

Wow, leagues leading scorer got 2nd team and he more than doubled one of the players point output who is first team. Team that wins the league gets Zero mvp awards, it's a good thing they're going to nationals ahead of all those guys who beat em out for those awards.

Someone sounds like he doesn't agree with the awards. Guess the entire league has no insight into what is going on. Glad you guys can spell my name right as well :D .

Just because you are the best team, doesn't mean the MVP's should come from your team. In my opinion, both MVP awards went to the 2 players who deserved them. T-chuck is hands down the best attackman in D2, and from what i've seen from Snell, he's a heck of a defender (and a dang good Face-Off man).

The first team selections have never been solely based on points, Nyc. I had 61 goals and 81 points my first year (a league record I think), and was on second team. I led the league in goals for the second straight year last year and was honorable mention, there is no science to it. As Mark Brown pointed out earlier, Jamison Whitehead never made it past second team and he was easily the most dominant player in the league. It is especially hard for players on well-rounded teams to stand out individually. When you got teammates who can create for each other, its hard to single out one guy as the catalyst for the entire team.
I think it speaks to the plethora of talent that WOU had this year that there were no individuals that clearly were the difference makers for them. Case in point Nyc, when WOU lost you this year, the team continued to perform at a very high level despite your absence. WOU should be very proud of what they have accomplished this year. Like you pointed out, ultimately what matters is who is left standing at the end of the season. Good luck to WOU at Nationals.

An Oregon player had 82 points in the regular season last year, no big deal.

JC -

Actually, it was recommended by the MCLA that we follow the same format they use for all-americans. . .4A, 4M, 4D, G, FOS and LSM. That is why a change was made. . .just trying to have our lists coincide with what the MCLA does at the National level. . .

Congrats to all of the players that received awards and recognition for their outstanding play this season. The list is never perfect, but I think it is a good representation of the best the PNCLL has to offer.

I hope I didn't butcher too many names on the live telecast. . .and yes, I made sure to give a few shout outs to the Duck Alumni team. . .

Thanks for tuning in, and I'll see many of you in September at the fall meeting.

Good luck to WOU and SFU in Texas, and congrats to Oregon and Western Washington for their performances this weekend.

By the way, this is not Will Moss. . .It's Jason Stockton as I quickly use Will's computer before heading to the airport. . .

Agreed Kellen. Obviously WOU has got some great players and the league's leading scorer but I also think T-Chuck is and was the most deserving for MVP. Without him and no offense to his teammates at PLU but they wouldn't have won nearly as many games as they did without him. I think Cody Hart was O-MVP last year (too lazy to look though) and his team didn't come close to playing for the title. WOU is obviously a great team and Davis probably should have been on first team but there's a lot of talent out there this year and he has a lot of help from a quality group of teammates. Anyways, good luck to WOU in Dallas and do work.

Not a bad weekend for WOU athletics. I work for CWU Sports Information and on Saturday they captured both the GNAC Men's and Women's Track Championships here, as well as the softball title and are the front runners in baseball as well. Lax isn't a varsity sport but 4 titles and a presumable fifth isn't a bad spring for the Wolves.

Great job Montana on broadcasting the game. I have just one problem with the all-league selections...no Oregon middies?
