PNCLL Week #7 (3/16-3/22) - Predict, Scores & Discuss

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Tue Mar 15, 2005 1:19 am

Wednesday, March 16th
Washington 14 Rhode Island 9

Friday, March 18th
Chapman 11 Washington 9
Simon Fraser 14 Rhode Island 13 (2ot)

Saturday, March 19th
Sonoma State 15 Oregon 6
Chapman 11 Simon Fraser 10
Gonzaga 17 Boise State 5
Oregon State 12 Rhode Island 6

Central Washington 6 Albertson 2
Western Oregon 9 Southern Oregon 4

Sunday, March 20
Oregon 14 Cal-Poly 8
Utah 17 Gonzaga 4
Washington 17 Oregon State 14

Boise State 10 Linfield 9

Monday, March 21
Utah Valley State 8 Linfield 3

Quiet week for the B Division during Spring Break, with only two important conference games on the books. Albertson (0-3, 0-4) gets back on the road after getting hammered at Western Washington the week before, playing at Central Washington (1-1, 5-3). CWU has been better than anyone expected, and this is a must-win home game for the Wildcats, who can take a half-game lead over Whitman (1-1, 4-2) for second place in the B-South behind Montana (3-0, 5-1). AC needs a short-stick to step up and start scoring some goals, to lift the young team and take some pressure off the defense.

Western Oregon (2-2, 2-3) is at Southern Oregon (1-1, 1-1), in a battle of intrastate rivals who have each won half their B-South conference games. Good showing so far guys, this game is worth watching for a number of story lines. Most important: Would three conference wins be enough to sew up an at-large playoff bid for the Wolves? SOU could also boost it's own playoff hopes with that crucial second conference victory. Could be an interesting game report from beautiful Ashland.

I'd like to invite all PNCLL players, coaches and fans who are free to to come to Seattle for our big Husky Indoor Tournament. Saturday includes the Oregon Episcopal School ('04 OR state champs) vs Mercer Island H.S. ('04 WA state champs) game at 4:30. We're excited to be hosting Rhode Island (already in town, practiced with us tonight!), Chapman, SFU and OSU at one event. The college game schedule can be found on pncll.com. We should have an incredible week of quality MDIA and high school lacrosse indoors, safe and dry from the rain which is rumored to be returning. The location of Dempsey Indoor is shown here:

http://www.washington.edu/home/maps/southeast.html

I'd also like to take a moment to wish the Ducks and Zags luck in their huge OOC road-trips against ranked teams. Oregon at Noma and Poly, Gonzaga at BSU and Utah. Pulling the upset in the first or last of these four games would greatly boost UO and GU's stock, and with it our league's as well.

Drive safe all, having one tragic accident this week involving Liberty University is enough.

A few of your poll ranks are off or missing Dan.

In any case, I am anxious to see how the Ducks do against 'Noma. I know that Chico played well, yet still got beat in the final seconds (5-4). And the Ducks beat Chico by one goal (11-10?). Anyone think the Ducks can pull it off?

Dan,

Oregon State is playing Rhode Island on Saturday as well. I think you missed that in your post. Good luck to everybody this weekend. Come out strong for the PNCLL!

Good luck to all PNCLL teams this weekend--especially my boys. I am particularly looking forward to this weekend when I bring my high school team to Seattle to compete in a jamboree as well as watching the Mercer Island game and perhaps the UW game. Hope to see some of you guys there.

As one who will be unable to make it up to Seattle this weekend I hope that the forum will be updated ASAP. I know I will be looking for scores as soon as they are possibly available.
And GO BEAVES!!!
Also good luck to the Ducks and Zags. Lets get March Madness started early this year... I don't have many upsets in my NCAA bracket this year, so I want to see some out of UO and GU.

You guys are all wishing the Ducks, Beavers, and Zags good luck, which i am too by the way, but don't forget that Linfield could pull of an upset against Utah Valley State on Monday. From the two times we have seen them this season i know that if they are on they play great lacrosse. Good Luck Linfield and show them what PNCLL is all about!

Can Linfield redeem the PNCLL against the RMLC this weekend against Boise and UVSC? Why or why not?

Linfield beat Boise? there's a good chance and it would be great win for the PNCLL. Linfield beat UVSC? Nice guys, but tough. Best of luck.

Anything is possible. We played a horrible game against UVSC and they killed us... Can always work the other way, that's why we play the games.

I completely agree, and it is one of my favorite parts of the game. On any given day if a team comes out and plays agressively together as a group than anything can happen. It is all about who wants it more as a team. I'm pulling for you Linfield

Score

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Thu Mar 17, 2005 1:05 am

Washington 14
Rhode Island 9

The Rams are a very good team, and a very classy bunch from Coaches Duggan and Kenney on down. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in contention for the PCLL title when they return home from this trip.

Thanks for a great Game URI, and thanks again for coming all this way to play in our tourney...

Thanks for the support. We obviously are going to have to bring our A game to be able to get wins this weekend. Both Boise and UVSC beat tough teams in PLU and UPS last weekend so we know that we are going to have to be running on all cylinders to come back with wins. All we can hope to do is play well and leave in the winners circle.
