A busy week for the PNCLL as most teams return from Spring Break. Oregon (5-0; 11-3) plays at BYU Saturday night in a game which will be televised on BYU-TV (also available on your computer in a live stream). After a pair of tough one-goal losses in California at Sonoma State and versus Cal-Poly, the Ducks look to rebound against the Cougars. This game is a rematch of a 2005 National Tourney consolation contest won by the Ducks. Both teams will surely have ample motivation. Oregon also takes on B-Division powerhouse Utah Valley State on Friday.
Boise State (1-3; 5-4) plays at Gonzaga (1-2; 3-8) in a crucial A-Division game on Saturday. The Broncos and Bulldogs each earned a first Division win this past weekend, and the winner of this game in Spokane will be "in the driver's seat" for capturing the fourth and final playoff berth -- although they will not clinch the spot.
The good news for Montana (6-0; 7-1) is that the road-weary team gets a pair of home games. The bad news for the Grizzlies is playing both of these on the same day, and against a pair of ranked opponents. On Saturday Western Washington (6-1; 7-3) battles Montana State on the Grizzlies' home field. The on Sunday morning the Vikings play the Grizzlies in a battle of B-North vs B-South dvision leaders. Afterwards, Montana takes on cross-state rival MSU.
Southern Oregon (4-2; 6-2) can clinch the #3 overall B playoff seed (and with it a quarter-final playoff game at home) with two wins against Western Oregon (3-3; 3-3) and Willamette (0-6; 0-7). The Raiders would move to 6-2, and with only Whitman (4-1; 4-2) and PLU (3-2; 5-6) able to tie that mark, SOU would own the tie-breaker with wins over both the Lutes and Missionaries. A win by the WOU, however, would move the Wolves to 4-3 and right back into the thick of things.
PLU and UPS (2-3; 2-5*) travel to play Central Washington (2-3; 2-4) and Whitman in what almost amounts to a playoff weekend of games in Walla Walla and Ellensburg. With six teams making the post-season and seven teams in front of both the Loggers and Wildcats with at least three divisional wins, UPS and CWU really need to each sweep PLU and WC to keep alive realistic hopes. PLU and Whitman also have great motivation in the battle to not just make the playoffs but to earn a first-round bye or at least host a first-round game. The Lutes can still win the B-South by winning out and tying WWU at 6-2 (assuming WWU beats Whitman). But so could Whitman, which hosts WWU the following weekend. In any case, these four games this week will bring the playoff picture into much clearer focus on Sunday night. Whitman could also send both WWU and PLU into the quarter-finals by winning out and capturing the B-South with an unmatched 7-1 record.

May the sun shine in the lower columbia basin...may the couches rest along Ankeny Field...may the fans hydrate themselves accordingly...and may the fun begin.

Whitman's a pretty rowdy playing environment for being such an academic school. I've even heard of frat parties and kegs of beer being consumed before games there. Those fans sure can heckle.

Lots of rain in Missoula this week...could make for some interesting games this weekend (although I expect all the games here to be close anyways).

Impressive showing. B Division or not, we all know that UVSC is a quality lacrosse team. Maybe Da' Ducks are peaking at just the right time? Guess we'll find out tonight!
By the way -- and as an FYI -- BYU-tv lists the lacrosse game telecast at 10:30 pm (Mountain time -- 9:30 here out West) tonight. This could be incorrect, as it has been previously reported that the game would be shown live at 7pm Mountain time (6pm here). This is a great opportunity for everyone to watch UO represent the PNCLL. For the younger, 2nd-year programs with players new to lacrosse it should be quite an eye-opener. Be sure to watch the game via live-streaming on your computers tonight! Here's the link:
http://byutv.org/schedule/?v=grid
Go to the link for "streaming" on the left-hand side and choose Windows Media Player (if you have it), or download the Quantam Player by following the install menu.

Checking BYU-TV this morning it looks like the game won't be shown until 10:30 pm (Mountain time), which I assume is not live but on tape-delay.
Can anybody confirm whether the game will be shown live? The programming listings show lacrosse only at 10:30...
I wouldn't necessarily trust the listings. The official BYU rep told me 7pm (Mountain Time) on BYUtv.
